As opposed to maintaining a steady course to liquidation?
I'd rather go bust than be bothered watching boring non-competitive football. If your personal success for a season is just surviving comfortably and going on a bit of a cup run great!
Chairman Bill ruined the best chance we had when he turned down the City fellas.

Just accept that we are now a nothing club and enjoy the wins when they come.

Everton have been small time for 30 years now, we just havent realised cos we are all stuck in the 80s and most still consider Man City smaller than us.
You make a lot of valid points there but consider how Man City felt when they were two divisions lower not so long ago! Anything is possible so the fan's appeasement breeds mediocrity and that will never be enough for this great club.

Which is what we've been for large chunks of the premiership.

Don't forget Moyes punched above his weight, Martinez piggy backed off him...and the rest is expensive failures.

A couple years of a steady midtable side producing some talent would be a breath of fresh air.
I hear you but that aint me. I want success and with the right managerial/staff appointments and sound player purchases anything is possible. Look at Leicester when they won the prem! It doesn't take long to turn matters around. Dreaming of mediocrity is a sad state of affairs to get involved with.

You've already been watching non competitive football for years with half a billion thrown at it.

And the fans expect more than mediocrity and have done for years. If we didn't, the list of managers we've had the past decade wouldn't be so long. Bulbs were calling Ancelloti the Italian Sam Allerdyce ffs

But there's realism and fantasy. Reality is... we've an owner who's sunk close to a billion into this club, financially crippling it, that could be playing championship football next season and not get back to the top flight for a while.

If selling to these fellers stops that and puts the train back on its tracks...

I mean its hard not to agree with your sentiment here but please not this shower!!! We deserve better.

There is nothing at all in this 777 story
Of course there isn`t, that a full takeover or controlling stake from 777 would be a good thing with a network of clubs and see us rid of the board and an owner making bad decisions but instead MSP will take a 25% stake leaving us with the same criminals that have led us to where we are now.

They don't have the funds for a full take over

The one thing i like about this is that we'd be the crowning jewel and have our own scouting network throughout Europe and South America via these other teams owned by 777.

KInd of like a Red Bull i suppose.

Can’t say it’s a guarantee, but there have been a fair few deals between Genoa - Standard over the past couple of seasons.

So I wouldn’t necessarily say it is off the cards if it does happen! As long as we’re not wasting loan signings on players who aren’t good enough like El Ghazi and Vinagre as “favours”.

Mate, I agree with where your immediate ideals are aligned but are you really claiming now that you’re that tuned in to the club that you’re aware of the discussions at ownership level?

You’re actually hurting the majority with this nonsense.

First one - we are and have been watching relegation-bringing boring football with no imagination or anything in it for years now. Mid table and a cup run probably looks amazing right now to anyone rather than another 'exciting' relegation fight. Long term obviously not but currently it's the best we can hope for for the foreseeable few years.

For City - probably not arsed as they're at the top of the game now and Goat is right about what he said - being stuck in past times hurts more than helps in reality.
