Thelwell this evening entering the boardroomOh lovely stuff.
It’d be just like Everton to both lose the entirety of Usmanov’s investment AND leave the paper trail back to him intact for the authorities’ perusal.

Lets face it. Moshiri could appoint any Evertonian and he could do what kenwright does/did. Sit in the big chair. Get some of your mates in. Wait for the sky money. And thats it. The only times kenwright has ever acted was in his own self interest. To protect himself no matter how much damage it causes the club.
Exactly. I find it difficult to overly criticise Brands when the evidence suggests that those above him regularly interfered in what should have been his remit.
What's the point in having a plan, which includes a manager/type of manager, specific player profiles and youth, when the owner and his cronies undermine it?
How can you plan how to use your budget? How can you look long-term when the squad is saddled with expensive and ageing flops rather than youth?
I still think Carlo's appointment was a good one, but even then the signings went totally against what Brands envisaged, so why have him in the first place?
Like I said, he isn't blameless although the way I see it is he had one hand tied behind his back; likewise, Thelwell is shackled by previous failings.
Some fans need to give their head's a serious wobble if they genuinely believes Brands is the problem.
I've got no problem with him not walking away from an extremely lucrative job if he didn't act holier than thou about it. Don't bring up how much of a mess everything was and is if you were a part of it and did nothing to stop it and at many points contributed to it.Mina was twenty-three when we signed him as was Gbamin. Arguably, they were still young players with potential on the pitch and sell on value.
Gomes was older at twenty-five, I'll give you that, but still at the time a good five or more years left at his prime would have been the mindset. Godrey too.
Doucouré was wanted by Ancelotti and Delph, well Delph was a faux pas. The thing I also find questionable is the 'fine' bit with certain signing - was he?
Would he have wanted Allan, Rodriguez et al.? No. Did he want Rafael? No. The point being that ultimately his wishes weren't listened to on many occasions.
He did what those above him asked rather than fulfil the model, which is the problem. You may wish he'd taken the moral stance of walking away...
... but would you walk away from a well paid job? Brands wasn't perfect, but the flak he gets is laughable. He's the fall guy for the board or their apologists.
You would have thought that the lesson from the Koeman/Walsh fiasco would be that when Brands was appointed he would be left to run the football side of the club as he saw fit. Instead it was anything but. It was a complete waste of time as we never got to see what he could develop. Then to appoint Benitez who insisted on doing everything his own way.....unbelievable.Mina was twenty-three when we signed him as was Gbamin. Arguably, they were still young players with potential on the pitch and sell on value.

Do we get a cup for that?that’s all he’s done. and any fan who defends his tenure or he’s saved us bla bla
well what’s he now done? he’s achieved relegation
A hero to whom? In all seriousness, if he had walked away would it have made any difference, or could you say by staying he could keep trying to solve it?I've got no problem with him not walking away from an extremely lucrative job if he didn't act holier than thou about it. He was at best another arse kissing yes man who let the board get away with it. An actual resignation at a time when we weren't on a 10 game winless streak under Benitez would've went a long way to highlighting how bad the problems were. He didn't even need to resign he could've just not signed a new contract in 2021 given he would've been well aware of our impending FFP doom. He could've made himself a hero if he stood down when Benitez was appointed but instead he tried to stay on the gravy train.
Why would you think after 7 years of mismanagement, lack of direction and failure to do anything productive would he know have a light bulb moment and hang on I'm doing this all wrong.Moshiri needs to come out and say that the current board is being replaced. Our best hope for the future is a purposeful structure with competent people filling key roles, like Brighton, Brentford and Newcastle have done.
On the list of People to Blame if we get relegated he doesn't even make the top 10.A hero to whom? In all seriousness, if he had walked away would it have made any difference, or could you say by staying he could keep trying to solve it?
I'll say it again, Brands is perfect, but I look at the job he did at Alkmaar, PSV and PSV again and compare it with Everton. I wonder why here failed? Him or the club?
He may have left PSV purely for the money, or he came and stayed here because he endeavoured to do a good job. Eventually, it was clear that wasn't possible.
@good times bad times exactly. Why have a DoF if you're not going to let them do their job, otherwise they're an expensive contract negotiator?
Do we get a cup for that?

They don't even do that as Kenwright/DBB negotiate all the contracts.A hero to whom? In all seriousness, if he had walked away would it have made any difference, or could you say by staying he could keep trying to solve it?
