The Everton Board Thread

Up in arms is maybe a bit strong... I thought at the time it was a stupid signing with no upside. Sigurdsson was crap: too slow for the Premier League, hid from the play and was nothing like as good with a dead ball as he was made out to be. Bit in bold... we paid 35 million quid for him and he is a bang average player. He was worse than that for 3 years.

Well we have player threads for such debates. While we can argue all day long over players and valuations, no one can deny that Moshiri at least had some ambition for the club…….

One thing to remember is that while Moshiri has made mistakes , where he to pull out tomorrow as many wish for , Everton wouldn’t last a season . This is not scaremongering or exaggeration but a factual comment based on the opinion of the accountants who did our last set of books.
MSP do not have the financial muscle to take the place of Moshiri , and I do not think they are interested in such a role.
The only people currently interested in investing in this club are two similarly sized American consortiums, or previously an extremely dodgy American estate agent and serial loan defaulter.
When Trevor Birch arrived and left in double quick time that should have signaled to everyone the damage that had and was being done to the club at that time.
Sadly significance of that event was largely ignored and the damage was allowed to continue.
Moshiri’s millions have not been enough to repair that damage , especially when those responsible for it were left in situ to continue their abhorrent stewardship of our club.
Our history had been squandered and our role diminished to the point of irrelevance.
And very few nation states or multi billionaire’s are interested in putting money into a club whose sole achievement for 30 years is to make up the numbers and whose main ambition has been to avoid relegation.

That’s Moshiri’s fault (as well as DBB’s who other snakes also seem to want to defend) also for leaving us in such a position. A club in the 21st century should be self-sustainable and not reliant on an owner’s (or an owner’s Russian mate’s) money to survive. It’s a disgraceful position to be in and the buck stops with the owner and his failed board.

Just seen Reading docked another 6 points for failing to pay players after the 6 they got for breaching the EFL's maximium financial losses of 39 million.

We wouldn't last a season in the championship.

You say this yet you're the one who spends his entire life on an internet forum moaning about/slating individual's far more wealthy & successful than you'll ever hope to be.

Maybe turn the computer off, find employment and learn the ways of business as that way you may come to realise not everything is as simplistic/linear as it appears to be in mikeh72 world.

One of the main reasons I stuck you on egnore was you claimed Mike Ashley was a good football owner which makes your entire opinion on football ownership invalid (imo) as if you think that big galoot with 2 relegations on his CV is an owner we should inspire to have then I dont know what to tell you.

The last I time I click "show egnored content" as I really should know better than to hope that you change your ways for the better and start listening instead of shouting over everyone.

Good to know I’m back on “egnore”, so I’ll leave the rest of the forum with this little nugget about you - you slated Moshiri more than everyone else here up until he appointed Rafael Benitez when you suddenly flipped around on him, so I’ll let everyone else make their own minds up what you are 🤷‍♂️

🐍

And did any of these coaches resign. No, not them nor the board. Why ? Because it probably never happened. But let’s use weird accusations to absolve them and the board. Next it’ll be Moshiri set the tactics and oversaw the training…getting farcical now…….
The "weird accusations" were from comments made by Marco Silva.

Moshiri fell head first into Bills “PL experience” trap and we ended up with Koeman instead of Emery.

The rest is sadly history.

I think he and the pieman brought in Tosun when we were in deep crap. Who are these other players that he brought in over the head of managers and the board…….
That is impossible to say.
As Moshiri was paying the bills then he had to approve every signing but obviously many were rubber stamping requests from managers and the DOF at the time.

I think it is universally accepted that Moshiri meddled a lot in the running of the club.

I am not trying to absolve the board , they all absolutely need to be gone from the club.

But, Moshiri remains , and potentially is still in charge of the club. Look at where the club was when he took over and where it is now , it is crystal clear to me that we had a weak board and an owner that did not know what he was doing, thought he could buy our way to the top and has failed dismally.

BK will be gone in a couple of days, the rest already gone but, in my opinion, the biggest culprit still remains.
My only hope is that they new board will be strong and independent and will focus on running the club properly.

I think we can all agree on your last sentence and hope it gets put in place quickly…….

He put the money in though , which is my point
The day to day running of the club was overseen by the board and Chairman , that is the purpose of boards. They direct how the money is used.
Moshiri no doubt interfered at times he is the owner after all, but it was still the boards responsibility to warn him of any mistakes they thought he was making.
If the board felt he was making poor decisions, and overriding their advice, they should have disassociated themselves immediately by resigning. The moment they decided to ignore any failings of judgment by the owner , they became equally culpable and failed in their role of a board of directors.
A board of directors are not constituted as a mere sinecure for the owner , it is they who bear the responsibility for ensuring the club is well run and to guard against any erroneous decisions made by the owner.
Nobody is saying the board didn't play there part, but I find it strange the defense of an owner who has allowed all this to happen simply because he blew 500 million. Let that figure settle in, he managed to inject 500 million and allowed the club to go backwards!! I'm sorry I'm not saying one ks worse than the other but it's baffling that people seek defend moshiri.

I think people just want BK gone mate, for all the damage he's done to the club over a period of more than 20 years. Those who are not already angry with Moshiri, will be once BK is gone most likely, unless like you say the new board does a better job keeping him under control
