The Everton Board Thread

I don't want to go through the Kenwright era again, or the Moshiri era. I want to see the club run properly.

What does having wealthy owners capable of investing into the playing staff have to do with a club being run properly?

You're falling into the trap of believing wealthy owners all run their clubs badly.

Leicester have wealthy owners
Man City have wealthy owners
Chelsea had wealthy owners
Wolves have wealthy owners
Villa have wealthy owners

All those clubs seem to be doing alright.

I am one of the "Kenwright Children" who doesn't remember seeing a trophy win, who dined on nothing but austerity and no hope other than to make up the numbers and sell to buy. Without Moyes we would have been in League One never mind the championship!

I'll be damned if I have to go back to those days.

You do realise FFP is changing from this year dont you? It'll be no longer 3 year running losses its now based on wages to turnover.

Hypothetically that means Everton could sign 3x £50 million boss 21 year old players and providing the wage structure is in order "losses" are not calculated or penalised.

So going forward yes having wealthy owners IS important mate.

Or do you want to go through the BK era again?
Tell us you don’t understand, without telling us you don’t understand

He has been claiming that himself even up until yesterday. Yet today, it is a good way of working apparently.

Funny thi g about it is, Villa have done the exact same thing before under O'Neill and it's what ultimately wrecked them for over a decade as a club, same as it did Leeds for even longer.

We where right on the precipice of doing the same.

With current regulations you can't buy your way anymore (as you literally have a three year window to achieve massive growth and success - which is almost impossible unless you get lucky or have brilliant people in charge at all levels) you have to organically grow into being 'bigger' grow commercial deals, grow investment and sponsorship, qualify for Europe whilst maintaining a healthy and sustainable cost/wage structure.

Wealth is irrelevant if you have no idea how to use it. Moshiri has been a total disaster and I would prefer prudence mixed with competency over extravagance mixed with incompetence, every day of the week and twice on a Sunday.

You were literally claiming yesterday that Villa are falling into the same trap we did. They literally finished 14th last season with only 6 more points than us after our worst season in donkeys years. And that's your aspiration?

City and Chelsea owners got in before the financial rules made it near impossible for new owners to do the same.
Leicester genuinely have decent owners who care about the fans but aren't competing with the big 6. That title, as amazing as it is, is a fluke in terms of PL.
Wolves are a bog standard mid table club. Which we were until last season.

Where did I say all wealthy owners run clubs badly, my problem is the wealthy owner we have.

Did you even read my post - I literally pointed tons of examples of clubs with welathy owners who DO run their clubs correctly whilst giving them the dough to compete for Europe, get to Europa League Semi Finals, FA/League Cup Finals.

You think any of that happens with owners unwilling to invest or operating a near full sell to buy policy? Ask Newcastle fans how that works out for you under Mike Ashley.

They had to give tickets away because people were staying away from SJP because they were watching other clubs have a go at competing whilst the fat controller was happy to rake in the TV money. Clubs like Southampton, Burnley happy to finish 17th every season.

If thats what you want crack on but I guarantee you it gets boring very quickly and the fans will get restless seeing other clubs our size/once beneath us sign £30-40 million players and competing for Europe whilst we are scrambling around for loans & squad fillers like Gibson and Stracularsi like the good old days many harp back to under William K.

I don't care about Mike Ashley or Newcastle. Stop bringing them up.

Our short term aims and long term aims will be different right now.

Short term is getting a side put together in the next 2 months that will make sure we aren't in another relegation fight. We came 16th with less than 40 points and just lost our best player. We are in an extremely precarious position right now.

Longer term, the aim has to be getting the wage bill reduced, getting the squad completely overhauled and having a complete culture change at all levels of the club. That means long term strategic decisions are taken, and only by football experts, rather than Moshiri signing players on a whim because he can.

There is no evidence Moshiri can bring about any of the changes we need. There is no evidence he will appoint the right people and allow them freedom to do their job properly. That's why I want a change of ownership as soon as possible and I have zero fear of a change. I fear relegation under this owner and this board. The stuff in this thread about potential owners has been some of the biggest rubbish I've ever read on here, especially since we all know as much about what is going on as each other - i.e. absolutely nothing.

I support no particular prospective owners, but I fully support the sale of the club by Moshiri taking place as soon as possible so we can draw a line under this disastrous period for the club where I have felt embarrassed to be an Evertonian. If you think it's just about wealth, then you're badly mistaken, and that's the legacy of Moshiri.

Money without a plan will never work. Cash without the right culture will never work.

SACK THE BOARD

Come on now Tim. They're not that bad.

DBB has come from an award winning charity and is now running an award winning business!!

Sure you might need to pay to be entered into Sports Business Awards, but we're still award winners! No one can take that away!

Unless of course Sports Business Awards itself goes out of business, but whatever.

Winners!!!!!!

The key bits here...

What 50m player is going to accept low wages because we don't have the revenues to support their wage demands?

Having a fully functioning club is key to growing our revenues to support the associated transfers.

You have mentioned Villa being well.run a few times today already. This was yesterday

I know the clubs been ran poorly but ultimately we are where we are because we've tried competing for the top and failed miserably.

I look at other clubs like Villa doing similiar and I can only see them being in a similiar situation to us in 2-3 years with the money they are throwing around just to finish midtable.

What you're seeing is FFP in all its glory - you either abide by it and stay in your lane like good little bhoys or you run the gauntlet and if it goes wrong we'll let the scab 6 vultures pick the bones off you.

Honestly losing interest in the whole thing - system is set up for that lot to remain unchallenged, add in 5 subs rule meaning they can stockpile even more quality on their benches I think I'll be finding a new past time the way football is heading.

@Saint Domingo
And recently. So well run they have finished 14th and also been relegated recently.

Do we reckon Kenwright and DBB would get past week 1 of The Apprentice?

Maybe Sugar would run them over in his Rolls before they even get into the board room.
