The Everton Board Thread

The Moshiri era has been utterly miserable.
That isn't true.
The result of the Moshiri era has been miserable but for quite some time we were riding on his coat tails with great optimism.

The various spending sprees funded by him, the appointment of Ancellotti were all high points for Evertonians.

Things really only started going badly south with the appointment of Benitez.

That is not saying the club was well run in the early days of his tenure but it certainly gave us more hope than we had in some time.

It was the Ukraine war and the sanctioning of Usmanov that has seen off Moshiri more than anything else.

The key bits here...

What 50m player is going to accept low wages because we don't have the revenues to support their wage demands?

Having a fully functioning club is key to growing our revenues to support the associated transfers.

And how do you grow revenues without playing in Europe / winning trophies?

To do that you need to invest in good players.

To do that you need owners with money to invest !

I don't care about Mike Ashley or Newcastle. Stop bringing them up.

Our short term aims and long term aims will be different right now.

Short term is getting a side put together in the next 2 months that will make sure we aren't in another relegation fight. We came 16th with less than 40 points and just lost our best player. We are in an extremely precarious position right now.

Longer term, the aim has to be getting the wage bill reduced, getting the squad completely overhauled and having a complete culture change at all levels of the club. That means long term strategic decisions are taken, and only by football experts, rather than Moshiri signing players on a whim because he can.

There is no evidence Moshiri can bring about any of the changes we need. There is no evidence he will appoint the right people and allow them freedom to do their job properly. That's why I want a change of ownership as soon as possible and I have zero fear of a change. I fear relegation under this owner and this board. The stuff in this thread about potential owners has been some of the biggest rubbish I've ever read on here, especially since we all know as much about what is going on as each other - i.e. absolutely nothing.

I support no particular prospective owners, but I fully support the sale of the club by Moshiri taking place as soon as possible so we can draw a line under this disastrous period for the club where I have felt embarrassed to be an Evertonian. If you think it's just about wealth, then you're badly mistaken, and that's the legacy of Moshiri.

Money without a plan will never work. Cash without the right culture will never work.

You're a very short sighted fan Timothy.

Fans like you kept Kenwright at the club because they couldn't see beyond the good work Moyes was doing so it was all good in da hood. Fans like me could see what would happen the moment Moyes left.

You say you dont care about what potential bad owner can come in because its not happened yet.

You say you like Lampard and want him to succeed yet dont think we need an owner wealthy enough to back him in the market to allow him to succeed.

2+2 = 5 in Timothy Land.

I was a child through most of that period, so yes of course I take full responsibility....

We also had our most enjoyable season in the last 15 years, the year after Moyes left, so I don't understand your point. The issue wasn't Moyes leaving, the issue was Moshiri coming in and completely destroying the identity of the club.

We can't spend at the minute anyway due to the errors of the past, so please give me owners who are competent, know how to run a business, and will get our wage budget back to a sustainable level.

I can't believe it's all your fault mate.

And here I am annoyed at the people who actually own/owned the club when it was all Little Timmys fault.

10 years a team that regular finished in the top 7 spots to relegation battlers

A very well thought out and well written synopsis of the mess Moshiri has made of things. I've no idea if these Yanks will be good bad or indifferent, neither does anybody else, I've also no idea if they will turn out to be our new owners, one thing is sure though, Moshiri is going to kill this club if he stays for much longer.

Things started going badly wrong with the appointment of Allardyce.

Like myself you're one of the Kenwright Children mate you should know better than to be so blasé about future owners coming in and not investing in the clubs future and squad / backing the manager with needed funds.

I get the viewpoint of the older fans who've seen the glory days, the title wins, the FA Cups, the european triumphs, being above the RS etc many of them don't have the energy to push for more.

I want to see Everton win a trophy before I die - that aint happening with owners who only care about a stadium or the PL tv cash.
