The Everton Board Thread

Had we had room and scope to spend real money when Ancelotti was here, he might have stayed and we may have kicked on. That is where we were screwed over by the regulations.

The problem is you need to spend more than your mid table rivals to move up a level to where half decent players/managers see you as a respectable club to be at - that is always going to see us sailing close to the wind.

Unless of course we can seriously boost turnover with ridiculous sponsorship deals that aren't usually applicable to a club that isn't even in the lowest rung of European competition football.
Mate Carlo wasnt staying no matter what and it wasnt the regulation's fault we had wasted vast sums of money prior to hiring the best manager of his era.

We spend similar money to Spurs, prior to this window, players bought, wages paid, its very close and whilst Spurs have "stayed pretty flat" we have fallen like a stone.

But honestly, if you think FFP is the issue, get a group of like-minded people together and protest it.

I will support you, just as I will support these chaps.

Kenwright is going to be either frozen in carbonite and placed in the new stadium or just become a disembodied head floating in a jar like in futurama that will infinitely oversee the club and continue to adversely affect the affairs of the club
However preposterous that may sound it is actually quite believable

And that is the reason why as a fanbase we'll never be happy and rightfully so.

You have fans calling other fans happy clappers or bad fans whilst we sit in 16th having spent £500 millions.

You had fans calling other fans happy clappers or bad fans whilst we sat in 6th, playing in Europe regularly winning most weekends having spent 50p.

Everton is too big a club to have ambitions of midtable survival every season yet thats all thats on offer as if the sporting competition was made fair the scab 6 would be off to the super league and UEFA, SKY, BT, PL et all lose their golden goose and £££€€€.

Usain Bolt doesn't get a 5 metre head start in a race because of his past achievements so why can Man Utd be allowed to spend hundreds of millions and pay players 300k+ a week without worry but Everton cant long term even if their owner is fronting the money fairly?

Its a complete con and no new owner, chairman or board outside of a gulf state can change that sadly hence why I wont be protesting regardless of my dissapointment at the current position we find ourselves in.
Anyone who actively supports this board and owner is part of the problem. If someone supports a leadership who have oversaw a period of sustained failure then they are not an Evertonian in my mind.

They will never be happy with any protest, big or small, at any time. The excuses constantly rolled out are nonsense and have no weight. I see them as disingenuous

Maybe if we invested that 500 million more competently we would be in a better position to compete and there would be less discord between fans?

We were regulary finishing in europe and top 7 under Moyes yet the fanbase still were protesting at the board, calling for change, calling other fans happy clappers or entitled biffs.

This idea that our fans would be in perfect harmony had we invested that money wisely and finished 6th-7th a couple more times is a pipe dream.

Soon as you finish 7th a few times you want more - its never enough for a club like ours rightly or wrongly.

Leicester were a tinpot club 10 years ago now they are calling for their managers head who finished 5th twice on the spin because they've dropped into the bottom half this season just gone.

Its never enough.

You seem to want a united fanbase.

I want a successful football club.

We do not share the same goals.

I have no doubt that Moshiri wants to own a successful football and is willing to continue to invest his own wealth to make it happen , this is far more than many other owners are willing to do.
However given how things have developed I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Moshiri and Kenwright to give some form of roadmap to explain how they are planning to improve Everton year on year.
And realistically any such plan has to involve a significant restructuring of the club with people accountable for specific areas and the targets we need to achieve.

Moshiri hasn’t invested any of his own wealth, clearly.

Yes there will always be unrealistic sets of fans woth an insatiable appetite for prestige but kenwright enabled that mindset as well. The problem was even when we had a positive season we were never fully designed to sustain success so when we achieved Europa or champions league we didn't have the infrastructure to build upon it and was matter of time we stagnated due to mismanagement

Define success.

Finishing 10th every season?

40 points by April?

The odd 7th place finish?

These are the good times Kenwright spoke about and most laughed but he had a point that's as good as it gets for us.

I can tell you who challenges for the title next season and who finishes top 4 yet the PL is supposedly the most exciting and unpredictable sporting competition in the werld according to Nev and Carra lol

Success is fighting for the Title, winning trophies.
What we have now is fighting relegation.

Im willing to meet in the middle.

Of course the Prem is the best league in the world! I know this to be a fact because everyone who makes a fortune from it tells me it. Religiously. During every broadcast. Every week.

(Well, at least we're not quite a one team league, just yet I suppose).
