The Everton Board Thread

Reads like garbage to me.

Someone saw Bill in a casino at the time of the famous Arteta money.

It’s not a simple matter to siphon millions from a football club to fund a gambling habit.

Not buying it. And not should anyone else just because they’d like it to be true.

That’s what I’m saying. Check out if it’s verifiable. Supposed to be journalists aren’t they. If it’s not true then so be it. And wanting this to be true is not in my interest, enough crap going on as it is.

No, fair enough - I didn’t mean you, I was just talking generally.

I just think in the current environment people are inclined to believe anything they read like that.

We might all want him out, but it’s not necessary to believe stuff like that to think he should go.

I agree mate.

After today though, the timing of the statement, the “sources” who told the press about our CEO, I can’t see this ending amiable. It was a lousy tactic who ever initiated it.

It all goes back to recruitment for me - that's the main issue (although there are obviously plenty others). We became a club which was effectively a retirement home for mediocre, middle of the road top flight players looking a final big contract for the pension.

There have been far too many players brought here who were not good enough to represent Everton. And there were also players brought to this club with dreadful attitude who did not give their best or show enough commitment. That created massive fractures between the fans and the players because the identity of our club was lost and we felt short changed. We became everything that the average football fan does not like - massive wages for mediocre players with zero expectations to succeed, and no form of accountability.

Unfortunately I don't think the effort and committment argument is really relevant anymore. I think these players mainly do try their best, but unfortunately they are just really bad players for this level, and lots of them are out of their depth. But patience has ran out because we've had nothing but rubbish served up for years, and there has been no leadership from the board or owner.

It sounds ludicrous, but I'm starting to think we can only start to rebuild and rediscover our identity if we hit rock bottom - and that's relegation. I hope I am wrong.

Never underestimate the levels of stupidity so many people will genuinely believe.

The media spin of this whole situation has been horrific. All of Kenwrights media mates coming out of the woodwork with the stories of assaults against members of the board. Jeff Sterling saying the atmosphere welcoming the coach was toxic. The downplaying of numbers for the protest. The genuine pariahs of the club have the temerity to try and hang the only asset the club has out to dry.

Let’s look at some of the lies that we have had to put up with during the tenure of William Kenwright and latterly Farhad Moshiri.

Kings Dock is ours - would have been Bill if you would have relinquished some control of your train set.

Fortress sport money will be here any day - still waiting.

Destination Kirkby has to be embraced as Goodison is about to fall down and we won’t get a h and s certificate for Goodison moving forwards - still getting h and s certs now.

We’ve had some good times - I’m 39 years old and my only good time watching Everton I can remember was 28 years ago.

Farhad Moshiri - I’ve never sacked a manager it has always been the fans that have fired the bullet - did we also appoint Benitez despite making it patently clear we didn’t want him and it wouldn’t work?!

Board members assaulted and spat at - more likely it was Unsie giving Denise a playful Dutch oven.

Everton Football Club as an institution and most importantly their fan base deserve better than the ineptitude and lies that they have been put through over years of gross mismanagement. Talk of being a sleeping giant is wide of the mark we have been made into a sick dog in need of being put down due to years of gross neglect. Today is the lowest I’ve ever felt with regards to our previously great club. Turning on the fans in the way they have is truly disgusting and we deserve better.

Sod them, they want Everton relegated. The fans kept this club up with their own sweat and voices and it'll be down to the fans again to get the club out of this mess.
