The Everton Board Thread

Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright said: “Kevin and I spent some valuable time with Sean over the past few days and he quickly convinced me that he has exactly the right attributes to make himself a great Everton manager – and a man who could inspire our fanbase. And Farhad felt the same when he met him, too.”

Just another piece of info for those who say BK has no authority these days

Let me know when him and his gang are no longer involved in the club please.

Go on then, give me these obvious reasons not to report an assault to the police.

As a private individual many victims don't want to make a formal complaint. They may not want to go through the hassle and trauma of a police investigation or directly challenge their assailant. It could have been something and nothing and DBB easily handled herself against a drunk idiot. Surely you know a huge proportion of crimes go unreported?

From a corporate perspective the whole thing is embarrassing. That the relationship with fans has got so bad that this happens isn't something you want to make a meal of. In terms of duty of care to an employee it's slightly different when it's the CEO who makes the final decision on operational matters. The fact it was supposedly leaked off the record shows the club isn't fully behind it. But once out what can they do? For the reasons above something probably did happen so they can't outright deny it.

You really think the CEO was assaulted and NOT ONE SINGLE person witnessed it?
No CCTV, no mobile footage, no word of mouth reports, NOTHING, NADA, NISH.

Are you really that gullible?

Easily. You don't know there are no word of mouth reports do you? Mobile phones are only taking videos if they are primed and ready to. If it was a split second it would be over before anyone got theirs out. CCTV doesnt cover everywhere.

I don't think it was a major assault. I think it was probably more that she was jostled and there was some sort of struggle. I can see why the club would want to brush it away but make reference to it as a general fraction point of the nature of the protests.

Kenwright should be long gone.

Literally every word you type screams "I am an idiot."

The “scallies hassling Gordon” were kids who I suspect hadn’t even been at the game, average age of about 12 and an IQ of even less!

The actual “organised” protests at Goodison have really not been abusive, or aggressive - if anything they’ve been quieter and not as loud, abusive or aggressive as this board and owner deserve!

I disagree. If the protest organisers had been stronger about staying peaceful and respectful (to the club) then it would have helped a long way.

Says the person that didn't seem to understand that many crimes go unreported? Really?

Where did I say crimes don't always get reported?

I said give me obvious reasons a CEO of a football club shouldn't report an assault at their own football stadium, a football stadium that is meant to promote safety and inclusion for women, and you gave me a load of guff. If she did indeed not want to report it, but it got leaked, it means other people were there for the "assault" and if so, why has no evidence come forwards? Surely if females are at risk inside a football stadium every step needs to be taken to make sure the female fans are safe in future games. The fact a large amount of time passed between the "assault" and the leak means they have actively let females attend Goodison at risk.

You said this

There are no obvious reasons for a person not to report an assault to the police.

I've explained why a CEO especially may view it best not to report it.

As regards the rest about risks to random women - one would imagine it was an attack purely focused on DBB due to her position as CEO. The fact it was a small woman just makes the attacker a coward but no more than that.

You can't try and talk facts in sentences which also include the words "one would imagine".
