From 2020;

Everton Football Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Graeme Sharp as the Club’s Players’ Life President.

His ambassadorial duties will continue as part of his new role but he will take on enhanced responsibilities, including becoming an advisor to the Board of Directors.

Sharp will act as a senior Everton representative across national and international media in a position which will also see him become a valuable source of knowledge and experienced point of contact for the Club’s Captain, Board, Academy, Executive Leadership team and First-Team Management staff.

He will play an active role in supporting the Club executives to develop and maintain the right culture and behaviours across the Club

^ So it sounds like he's already been involved/must of impressed...

Another Kenwright lapdog, getting his reward for his infamous " One man and his dog" quote the against the blue union years ago. Loved Sharpie as a player, but went down in my estimation as a person after that.

Tony Bellew next

Sounds mad, but I think match going fan opinion is often in the minority of the fanbase as a whole.
It really isn't. You hear some absolute nonsense at the match, but one day in the EO threat with the top blues gives you more than a year's worth.

Being more serious yet not wanting to overly emphasis the benefits of going the game*, I do feel that going the match often mellows you rather than the opposite.

It's easy to spout nonsense and go off course on social media, including the likes of GOT, and more so if you have the whole experience of going the game.

You'll have the odd nut job or those who want to incite, but in the majority of cases the arguments are fairly consistent; maybe it's actually paying to witness it.

*We don't need that match goer vs. non-match goer debate right now.

I think the line of comparison here - and probably what you're referring to - is between fans in the stadium and fans online.

They are the two places fans congregate en masse, and the two places you get a sense of collective opinion.

I think the main difference is that conversation is far less moderate online. People who are fine engaging with that do so - whereas those that aren't don't get involved.

That's a bit harder at the stadium - if you want to go and watch Everton, you've got to be part of that collective. It's harder to disengage from, so perhaps you get a different mix at the match as a result.

The comparison between Facebook and Twitter to the news is something.

If ever any topic demonstrated how Twitter isn't representative...
I think this has to do with the relative average ages of the two platforms.

All the ones on Facebook saw Sharpy winning things in the 80s and seem to be a lot more forgiving than the Twitter group that are closer to my age and haven't seen us win anything for the majority of our life beyond an FA cup we can barely remember.
