.. and to muse more about CL qualification this current season. The added television money will mean we'll have some cash to splash as will the others, so the higher up we end the higher quality players we can attract and would have a decent chance of cementing our place in the top 5 or whatever it's called nowadays.
You see clubs like Libberpudl who will struggle this season and still need to rehaul most of their side and have to spend big next summer. They end up where I think they will at 8-11th they will have to pay even bigger wages and fees to lure in new players of the calibre they need to be able to challenge for the top 4. This will keep their budget stressed and most likely keep then at a distance to who ever qualifies for Europe and especially those who reach the CL.
At the moment it looks like it'll be the usual suspects of Arsenal, Chelsea and the Manchester teams, but I still feel any of those can fail. ManU is weak at the back, Vidic gone for a couple of months again, Rio past it, that one kid is decent but they have to play poop like Evans. Arsenal has some quality players but hasn't really been all that the last few years. Chelsea strenghtened and will battle it out with City I think but I don't think Mancini or especially Di Matteo is all that so we'll see them dropping points at some point. *points
For the rivalling teams I'm not sure Tottenham will sort themselves out early enough to put in a decent bid for CL. I'm not sure about Newcastle, I'd like to think they'll regress but haven't really seen any indicators of that yet, might go toe to toe with them for places. WBA and Fulham seem to be in the mix for 7-9 and I know this will backfire but I'm not sure if the shoite will even in the top ten come the end of season unless they spend one hundred billion dollars in the january window.
I do agree with the people that it's about winning trophies, but if we can get additional money and the CL prestige we are better equipped to field a team that can challenge on both fronts.
