The Fanbase - it's your fault?

Getting paid millions a year to entertain and put in an effort. Yet some of them can’t be arse to run 5 yards and close down. Strolling on the pitch meaninglessly hardly breaking into a sprint. Oh and we can’t boo them cos they might cry on the pitch,

I see some folks barely afford a season ticket without sacrificing some lifestyle changes and of cos they are entitled to boo when their hard earn money going to waste with abysmal performance.

I get what you are saying there but its like looking to buy a TV, reading all the reviews, seeing that one is crap and breaks all the time and then buying it anyway.

You know what you are getting watching Everton.

I edited my post saying I thought the boos were for our performance mate, you could hear the groans from fans virtually throughout the game, by the end there was plenty of fuming.

Yip.

Failing to beat what is possibly the worst team in the league at home was particularly frustrating coming, as it did, hard on the heels of squandering a two goal lead at Bournemouth the previous week.

Whatever about a new manager trying out a new system and the unavailability of certain players, that is four points almost casually chucked away and the reaction of the crowd was a mere reflection of this.

One would like to think the manager and players themselves feel exactly the same way.

And you make a good point about “groans”.....of course “groans” go up when a promising move breaks down due to an under-hit, overhit or misplaced simple pass but too many on here try to equate that natural reaction of committed fans with personal barracking of the player concerned.

It was probably for the performance, Lou.

It was dire.

But to me that is fine.....booing a lacklustre performance at the end of the game is not the same as booing individual players, for whatever reason, during the game........which I think is the tongue in cheek allegation being made by the OP and which has been seized upon by fellows wanting to scapegoat the match going supporters.

And as far as I am concerned that just didn’t happen.
After 4 unbeaten games you think booing is OK ?

Some of the comments on here are from folk who watched the game on TV, and not being there and being a part of it, have little or no idea of who is booing at what. The few boos and abuse at the end and before the end were directed at the ref who started well and ended badly, and an awful Huddersfield grock team who killed the game because they could see we did not have the skill to break them down, which is their perfect right to do so. Any impression that Everton was booed off is way off beam.

Five unbeaten games, if you include Rotherham.

But whoosh......the point of the post has gone right over your head.
Well done you.
I was watching the Super League show last night and one of the players was saying how the hairs were standing on edge when they were singing his name, he loved it and it spurred him on, we should really try it at home consistently. Patience is needed and as someone said on here - "Do your moaning in the pub afterwards".

What happens if you don’t go the pub after the game?

Just go home and kick the cat ?

That’s what I think.

Even those whom didn’t “boo” at the end on Saturday can empathise with those who did, be those boos for the ref, for the performance or because the half time pie was cold.

A person watching on TV can never really pick up on the nuances behind it.

Matchgoing fans are often times a much hated species for some round these parts

In the absence of any other scapegoat for a poor performance, put the blame on the Bullens Boys :pint2:

The other thing is after the booing some of the players did get a good clap, because everyone could see they'd put the effort in even if the football was poor.

City didn’t beat Huddersfield at home last year. Liverpool didn’t beat West Brom and then got battered by them in the cup at home. It happens. The Huddersfield result is annoying but it’s not as though these sides are coming to Goodison and walking through us which has happened in the past. We’ve conceded 7 goals but only one of them has come from open play which was the first weekend. Yes it means we’re poor at set pieces but it’s a good sign that I’m open play we’re not giving much away.
