The Fanbase - it's your fault?

Was anyone actually booing the players on Saturday?

As far as I could see, people were booing the ref because he had a shocker

Boo's went up round me in the lower Gwladys right at the final whistle Mikey, so hard to judge if it was for our performance or for the ref. IMO though I reckon it was for our performance, because there were plenty of fans well and truly pissed off and screaming throughout the game with how we were playing.

It was probably for the performance, Lou.

It was dire.

But to me that is fine.....booing a lacklustre performance at the end of the game is not the same as booing individual players, for whatever reason, during the game........which I think is the tongue in cheek allegation being made by the OP and which has been seized upon by fellows wanting to scapegoat the match going supporters.

And as far as I am concerned that just didn’t happen.

I edited my post saying I thought the boos were for our performance mate, you could hear the groans from fans virtually throughout the game, by the end there was plenty of fuming and unrest.

You can hear the boos on the television as soon as the whistle went, ref and linesmen where still grouping in the centre waiting to shake players hands
Again ,the boos were directed at the ref and probably from both sets of fans . We sit right above the dugout and no players were booed as they filed off ,just the ref.

Obviously not the fans fault, and we're one of the most supportive around when it comes to turning up to show our support for our club. We sell out home and away despite currently going through a relatively awful period for a club with our tradition of winning trophies each decade.

Do think in recent seasons our fans have developed an entitlement where we can just turn up and expect to win easily at home for example. Some get very petulant and obnoxious when things aren't going to plan. You don't just see it at the match but also on Twitter. The abuse needs to stop.

I do also think we have extra aspects to contend with that other fanbases don't though. We share a City with a club that hasn't finished lower than 8th for 60+ years. We haven't won a Derby since 2010. They regularly get to European Finals and we've barely had anything to shout about for years and always seem to throw opportunities away whether it's a big crunch game, or a chance to push on like after 13/14, and 16/17.

We used to be able to look down on the likes of Man City, and even as recent as 2010-11 could taunt them for their lack of success. The tide has turned and we're now the losers out of the big NW clubs. It's a shame what our club has become in terms of the lack of success but hopefully we have entered an era where we can put that right.

Normally the ref gets it when he's just about to leave the pitch at the end of each half, its hard to distinguish that it was for the ref who did have a poor game when everyone was massed in the centre.

People around me were definitely directing their boo's towards the ref, shouting that he ruined the game
