The Fanbase - it's your fault?

Discussion in other threads regarding the ability of our players have solely pointed the finger at our fan base. So let the debate begin.

Are the vile ketwigs in the street end responsible, or may the IPA drinkers in the Park End?? Is it possible that a set of fans, sitting there and paying money to watch the team they love be responsible for Tom Davies being unable to pick out a 5 yard pass, or even find space for himself?? Is it the fans fault that DCL looks like bambi on ice??

How far do our disgusting fans go? Was Gylfi a victim of this same horrible behaviour last year?? The poor lad was just trying hard week in and week out but was unable to demonstrate all his talent because of the constant harassment he received from the stands.

How can we address this horrible pattern which has been holding our club back since 1987?

Were do you sit and what genre do you fit into, cos im blaming you

Bit of a bizarre thing to try and link together: someone having an opinion on a player and that being the downfall of said player to having racists in the crowd. Quite a large discrepancy in the two thought processes

I'm not sure what point you think I'm trying to make but will have another go; I am likening the bile and hatred aimed at players that I occasionally experience, to the bile and hatred that was once aimed at black players, it reminds me of those days. That is a world away from someone 'having an opinion on a player', quite why you fail to grasp that point is a matter for you, but i am not for one moment suggesting that people who have opinions (negative) about players are therefore racist and i hope the penny may now have dropped. I have negative opinions on a number of players as do plenty of the people I watch the game with, my issue is with a section who do nothing but scream abuse at players for 90 minutes, I don't get it, but given your interest in the subject and knowledge of 'thought processes', maybe you could enlighten me.

You do not help your case by the ridiculous "my issue is with a section who do nothing but scream abuse at players for 90 minutes". Such a section does not exist at any football ground on the planet. Do not pretend it does here or anywhere else.

What case? It's not my thread and I'm not making a case for anyone. There are sections of the crowd who continually have a pop at the players and display real hatred in the process, I don't understand their motivation but I've witnessed it for years, as have others. That's a world away (I think) from the original post, I happen to agree that we all have a right to an opinion and players need to deal with that, but sometimes it crosses the line. It's also the case that a crowd can lift a teams performance, so it would follow that the opposite can apply.

Sat in the lower gwladys once in Martinez’s first season when we almost came fourth. It was near the end of the end of the season and we were playing Palace at home and we got beat but by the atmosphere and the abuse vein slung at the players made it seem like we’d just been relegated. I’ll never, ever sit with that pack of mutants again. So depressing. Even when it was 0-0 it was awful.

I’ll never, ever sit with that steroid abusing guy again. So depressing. It was awful.

Was he wearing a pink string muscle vest and have a lisping effeminate Wirral accent ?

Really, if you've ever booed at Goodison you shouldn't be allowed to watch us inside the ground ever again.

This is a great idea because I'll have the pick of 38 thousand odd seats to myself.

Tom you’re an absolute disgrace. Absolutely useless piss scum piss sh1te ket wig rat cancel your contract you utter mess.

Definitely doesn’t affect the team though.

Did anyone else read that in the voice of Brian Clough? I reckon that would have hit home harder and he would chopped off his goldilocks that night and become a midfield enforcer from then on.

As for is it the fans fault, of course it is. We are too quick to criticise and are unsatisfied no matter what happens. It is how smaller clubs have been able to win stuff with worse squads, because they are behind their team 100%. Oh and Kenwright, actually I will apportion the blame 50/50.
