"The fans wanted him sacked"

I've said it a few times before but by that same token I'm not exactly dreading relegation as it would hopefully kickstart the legions of bells following Everton to crawl back under their rock or swerve us for a more successful team.

Gimme my Everton back darn it.
Not your Everton mate. It belongs to match goers only.

NSNO

I'm not Davek but yes he would.
The reason for asking was he said Phil brown was not a good enough answer to his 'name any manager at Any club who has been fired the season after a record PL points total'

And I'd say Phil brown keeping hull up would be comparable to Dyche keeping burnley up, so if he'd have said yes to Dyche keeping burnnley up then it would have been rather hypocritical to say brown didn't di a great job keeping hull up only to be sacked the season after.

All everton managers have gone through tough spells and took flack from sections of the fanbase, its how they respond and rise to the challenge thats the important thing. Roberto needs another summer to sort his squad out and can be judged more rationally next season

I think the key is that the successful managers have actually responded to the challenge, rather than just picking exactly the same side and watching exactly the same things happen.

Yup. Walter Smith for all his faults changed his tactics, they were awful choices but he changed. He went from 4 to 5 to 6 to 7 defenders on the field. It showed that he didn't like conceding goals and needed to do something about it.

Why say that? Why not "achieving consistent long-term success is the way to redeem himself"? Why such a narrow time frame?

Seriously. Time is running out (Newcastle and QPR games). I really do not understand what you mean by long term success. If you can't win a trophy, it will not be considered as a success is it? Moyes had bought stability to this club in the last decade but I bet some people do not consider it as long term success. And you are calling for long term here. No one can predict what happens next. Martinez has a v good season last year but this year is absolutely dreadful.

He spent 4m on a CB that hasnt made a single first team squad, a new keeper and has loaned or bought terrible wingers, its not like he hasnt had 4 windows to "fix" the squad. He also prefers to leave 1 of the best players in the squad on the bench until 85minutes most games.

4m?? Who's that? He has signed crap wingers like, they make me cry.

Still, first two windows were boss. Second not great.

I cant fault the Summer windows, I could if I was being picky, but that would be a little harsh, his work in the Winter windows has been his downfall.

Mistakes have been made. He needs to do better. He needed to do better last season too because by his own words 5th isn't good enough.

Lots of factors gone into this seasons performance. Him just being one of them.

Hes not getting the best out of a mainly very talented group of players, thats for damn sure.

Personally I think its a lack of any tactical nous and a very serious lack of player motivation and man management.

Hopefully he realises that what hes doing and the way hes doing it wont work, no matter how many times he says the word phenomenal.

I do wonder if he's got enough snide in him. Time will tell. I've thought the WC and EL have thrown his fitness stuff well off and he hasn't been able, or didn't know how, to get everyone sharp.

Which is 1 of the reasons im willing to give him a little more time.

This season has been horrific from pre-season to were we are now, it could end superbly and it could end amazingly bad or it could just fizzle out, like most seasons recently.

But im willing to give him another window, another chance at getting a pre-season right, basically a chance for him to sit and think just where he went wrong this season, I think he deserves that.

October would be my cut off point, if we are still playing cack and failing to pick up points at that point, I would show him the exit sharpish.

First move by me if I was Martinez would be a very simple one: take the armband off Jagielka and hand it to McCarthy.

That's be a statement of intent.
