This match is like a deaf dog. Hard to call.
On paper, I think France are the better side. Yet, they have never really convinced in the knockout stage. Even against Poland it was a struggle before Mbappe intervened decisively. They rode their luck against England, and did just about enough to keep the Moroccans at bay. Have they a big performance in them for the final? They might - but that virus has got to have some impact too.
Argentina seem fuelled by emotion. That's great when the emotion is positive, but that meltdown against the Saudis and another one against the Dutch show that they are mentally vulnerable to a more savvy side. Fernandez and Alvarez have been tremendous. If they can get the first goal they'll have a huge chance. If they go behind...well, the French will probably sit back and could finally run out of luck. So maybe it isn't all that key given the French tendency to sit back.
In the end, I'll plump for the French. They, it seems to me, have the higher ceiling. If they play well, they should win. But my predictions at this tournament have been very iffy indeed, so it might be appropriate if I am wrong one final time.

People seem to be banging on about Argentina as if they need to win it for Messi to be considered the best ever or even be compared to Maradona, I disagree to be honest. It’s a one off team game and anything can happen, Otamendi could get sent off in the 2nd minute, that would hardly be Messi’s fault. His legacy is set in stone regardless of what happens in my opinion.
