The Final: Argentina v France

You can see that Messi is playing for Argentina - it means something beyond himself. You can see the relationship he has with the other players.

Ronaldo is about him and him alone. Was it about winning the WC with Portugal, or him being in the limelight? We all know the answer.

Messi has gone up another notch in my eyes.

You know what? Throughout his whole career, I don’t think I’ve ever really heard him cry arse about anything.
Soft spoken and generally quite humble.

The whole Messi vs Ronaldo debate never really fazed him the same way it did ol’ Ronnie boy.

This Argentina squad isn't amazing by any stretch of the imagination; there's a fair few decent to good players, but it isn't a stellar setup.

But, they play with unity and arguably around Messi to make the most of him. It's all conjecture of course, but I couldn't see Portugal doing that for Ronaldo.

One of the two has turned up to play for his nation, and give his all. The other one didn't.
Messi is clearly better than Ronaldo, no doubt and not my point here, but, like Mbappe today, Ronaldo can only do something when he gets the ball. Against the Moroccans, who I felt were good value for their win to be fair, they didn't get him into the game at all.

Wow those are some pathetically empty stands for a WC final
Are there luxury boxes with A/C behind that second-tier bank of seats that is always empty? There's a second-level bank of seats behind the plate at Busch that look like that when it's cold and miserable, or brutally hot and humid. The view is OK from the windows.

Can live w/ a one sided domination in a final when the squad doing to dominating is playing fun hawt footie.
