The 'gallant' in defeat attitude - why?

Brighton was so bad that last nights performance was welcome . If we played like that every week we’d be top half and looking up/forward

We have a low bar these days it seems but it’s how it is

I accuse the club of living in the past regularly, but I am guilty of it too. Every time we lose to Man United, I burn inside. It's the only loss that comes close to the sting of losing the derby for me. That's because in my mind Everton are the peers of Man United and Liverpool. They are our rivals. They were always our rivals when I was a teenager and before. So, if younger people - I am 50 - are happy enough not to be humiliated, I can't blame them. They are far more realistic about the state of current-era Everton than I am.
Even then though, we rarely won away at those places. We’d have won 3 league games at old Trafford by the time you stopped being a teenager, 2 at anfield. It’s easy to think our bad record at these places is a new thing but it’s not, we’ve only won 7 times at anfield since the Second World War.

We pasted them regularly at home. Now, we get pasted home and away.

But we don’t, and that’s the issue.

One of Lampards greatest moments as our manager is grinding out a 1-1 draw v City, yet there are dozens of abject performances.

I've been thinking this for a while, a few years in fact, with it evident again post match last night. We are in a shocking run of form and lost again last night albeit with a slightly improved performance and all of a sudden, there's shouts of 'renewed hope', 'superb performance' (one notable fan account on Twitter), 'the lads put a good shift in'. Am I missing something? Granted, the performance was slightly improved from Tuesday but let's be realistic, it was still very poor in a lot of parts and United operated in 2nd gear in the second half especially. This has been a theme which has gone on for years - awful runs of form followed by one decent result (or even performance in a defeat? and that one result seems to make everything okay again. Knocked out the cup then get a half decent result the following week and again, everything rosy again.
It's deflating being a Blue!
Because Everton, thats why - we are like the opposite club.... Nil Satis Nisi Optimum ...

I suggest a total boycott of the next game by all those on here who never go to the match. I shall use the tickets I have paid for and decide myself how to behave during the game. Hopefully we will be cheering like the gallant 9000 at Utd, but this time for a win.

We got beat 3 - 1 and only scored because of a goalkeeping howler. We have conceded 19 goals and scored just 5 in the last 8 matches in all competitions. A more accurate statement would be If we did that every week we would be exactly where we are or maybe even lower.

Nah, we were unlucky yesterday against the second form side in the country. Like I said, if we played like they every week we’d be well above where we are now

Nah we were better than the previous match but not good enough to win which is why we lost. Manure dominated the majority of the game and deserved to win. We have had plenty of decent performances throughout the 18 games of this season and we are 3rd from bottom because we hardly win any games. I see no reason why that wont continue if things stay as they are.
