Somehow I'm not bursting with pride.....GB have won medals in 13 different sports, USA in 9. GB are the greatest all around sporting nation and the envy of the world. Amazing achievement.
Somehow I'm not bursting with pride.
Why is that?
He was 1/3000th of a second off a medal.Felt sorry for Adam Germili (sp!!) there.
Doubt he'll ever get closer to a medal.
Maybe it's that you are unable to fully comprehend how much effort it takes to achieve what they have achieved.Somehow I'm not bursting with pride.
Why is that?
It was a sensible decision to allow them to be re-run. The officials have been lenient generally which is more in keeping with the Olympic spirit. GBR have benefited from this in the cycling.Track and swimming are by far the best events, although it is nice to watch some things I wouldn't usually see or watch..
Didn't know you were allowed to bump people in relays. News to me
It's because the Olympics are basically worthless these days. Once upon a time a medal haul like that would have been cause for massive national celebration, but now many look at it sideways wondering how much is achieved fair and square. And the fact that the whole of organised sport has been reported as corrupt to the core and the competitions they put on are just massive personal and corporate bonanzas doesn't help either.Somehow I'm not bursting with pride.

In many respects their achievements have been undermined by their own media going into these games. The BBC in particular had it that the Games in Rio were a carnival of chemical ingestion and no result was believable.....there have always been cheats, be it drugs or otherwise. I think the main issue is when cheating is state sponsored like it clearly has been in China and Russia. Cheats will continue to be uncovered but the overall performance of GB should not be understated, I find it particularly good to see lads and lasses from ordinary backgrounds having talent to mix it with the best.
Because you've done nothing to be proud of?Somehow I'm not bursting with pride.
