Just finished this - Rivers by Michael Farris Smith.

His writing style is best described as a cross between Cormac Mc Carthy and J D Salinger.

The Deep South of America has all been wiped off the face of the earth due to years of hurricanes and rain, with most people choosing to leave.

The tale of a small group who chose to stay.

Beautifully written and engrossing.

I've had Desperation Road in the garage for a couple of years and have never got around to reading it. I think I'll give it a go when I've finished my current book. Have you read Desperation Road?

I`m just about to finish it, I bought it on the strength of " Rivers ".

I`ve hardly put it down over the last two days, it`s that good.

Comparable to Cormac McCarthy`s - No Country for Old Men.

I thought it was excellent - it was someone on here who recommended it, I think.

I get a lot of recommendations off here, as I prefer honest reviews, rather than a review from some literary snob critic, who may have an agenda.

Some of the reviews that the critics post, sometimes make you wonder if they are being paid to write them, as I`ve read some really bad books on the strength of positive reviews.

and managed to fool numerous 'so called' art experts around the world, showing them up for the pompous, pretentious prats that they are. RESPECT
Oh totally, he used his old man and stuck him in a wheelchair and pretended they were family heirlooms and that they were 'lost works' i have read a few books about various forgers over the years (im quite into my art) and it's amazing how easy some of them got away with it.

A Forger's Tale - Shaun Greenhalgh, he was a guy who forged masterpieces from his garden shed in Bolton. This is his memoirs and it's a fascinating read i must say.

Feel like there's been a film about this. Sure I've seen a trailer for something with a very similar premise.
