Just started reading a book about the 'Great Game' : British and Russian imperial machinations in central Asia.
As I said only just started, but thought I'd mention a couple of punishments inflicted by some of the rulers in the area in the nineteenth century.
Some prisoners were affixed to walls by hammering nails in their ears.
Another punishment meted out by a ruler who had given up alcohol was slitting the mouth of the poor unfortunates from ear to ear if they were caught drinking alcohol.

Late to the party I know but I got Faith of our Families during the week and it is excellent.
Well done to James Corbett for a fantastic piece of research and building on the work done earlier in the club's history.
I enjoyed the priest's story of scaling the newly tarmacked walls along with his colleagues all wearing their collars so they could get into Boundary Park for the 2nd Division title clincher.
A pity no one managed to get material from Peter Farrell back in the day although lots from Eggo.
Truly a wonderful addition to any footballing household but essential for Evertonians everywhere..."if you want to know yer history..." from the mouths of those who were there!!
