The Heatwave

Yes - i kinda said it was there - what I mean is that amongst the fear mongering and hyperbole about temperature figures, there is no balance mentioning that its a dry heat with a breeze that will help us keep cool. Of course balance doesn't get clicks- fear does.

If it were 40 degrees humid and still I'd be sat in a cold bath occasionally. Its hardly armageddon - its British weather.
The majority of hyperbole and fear mongering I've seen are from people declaring that media advice about staying out of the sun, keeping hydrated and covering up if you are outside and the Met Office using red colors on a map equates to being told it's the end of days.

The majority of us won't be greatly effected by two days of high 30 temperatures (especially with a mild breeze across your solero) but some people will be quite significantly impacted by it and the messaging is mostly for them and those that care for them.

Beeb ramping up the fear this morning. My partner thinks it's hilarious. She's off to work in her chiringuito and even Monday it'll be a busy day.

You seem to be assuming that the heat warning is for people like you, rather than for people who have to work out in it or are in care homes, hospitals, people with chronic illnesses etc, it's probably not for people who have the ability to sit in their bath all day.

Had the rather unfortunate experience of my missus passing out in Heraklion a few years ago.

It was around 38c. Stuck to the shade as much as possible when we walked though town and had just entered the Archaeological museum. Daft sod had swerved breakfast and only drank coffee that day. Low potassium and sodium levels. Ambulance to hospital job, absolutely terrified the poor museum staff. Very quickly sorted with an iv drip at hospital. Properly scared me though.

Worst part is that she's from a country where summer temperatures routinely hit this sort of high. Thought she could cope ffs.

Guess it shows it can happen to anyone if you don't respect the heat / keep hydrated. Don't be snowflake and (a) melt, be a wokeflake and stay cool.
