The Heatwave

I don't get this. My memory of the 1976 heatwave was its longevity rather than the severity. Went on for weeks, right across the school holidays which is unheard of. Don't remember it being excessively hot though. Would be surprised if there were more than a couple of days that actually exceeded 30C.

What we're seeing this week is entirely different and not comparable really.
The average temperature was lower by ten degrees, but facts never get in the way for 'woke' and msm obsessed fanatics.

Thats essentially what 76 is remembered for, there was a two week period to which the whole country experienced 30 degree temperatures. However the summer of 1995 is actually the driest on record. Good chance that will be broken in certain places this summer as there little rain forecast for parts of the country in the coming weeks.
That's not how I remember it. Maybe I'm getting confused with 1975. I mean, it was nearly 50 years ago. Don't recall the heat being overly excessive though

Doesn't bode well for the world in the next 50-100+ years really if English summers are to regularly border on 40 degrees plus. Thankfully I won't be around in 100 years and won't have any children to be concerned about at any stage. I know it's selfish, but you won't catch me 'doing my part' by turning vegetarian, cutting down on flights or just having 20-second on every once a week.
I supose so if it was the whole summer like that; this does however only appear to be a couple of days.

Ok lads. Keep it calm. Take this to the Arena thread if needed. We’re all blues here. Even the wakeflokes.

I think the old boys would remember temps of 50+ degrees and raging fires tbh.
People just got on with things though and went to work as normal even with their shoes melting and hair setting on fire.
There were no raging fires and the temperatures were in the 30's. It went on for a few weeks and it was a great summer. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Not sure why you and Coollino are so obsessed with it now. Just enjoy the good weather we are having.

Well my weather app on phone says it's hot again tomorrow then down to high teens and rain. No issue is it really having 3 hot days in summer?
You'll get what your given!
We've had summers where the sun didn't show, and the contrarians and manic moaners complained then as well.
Theres an old belief, mild summer means a mild winter. Hot summer gets a real cold winter. I suspect there is little if any scientific evidence for this, but if the reactionism we are seeing now is anything to go by, winter could parallel trench warfare...
