That's generally not how we roll in January though as we're just looking for something to get us to the end of the season.

That said I'd hope it was loan with an option to buy as it might mean the lad is a decent player who'll actually get some game time and not the Portuguese Anthony Gardner.

I think Arteta came on loan in the January transfer window, hopefully we have got an option to buy as it would usually means Moyes rates the player, which is always a good sign.

Oh yeah can't believe I'd forgotten about him, but the likes of Pienaar, Yobo and Howard were all summer deals. Though I don't think Yobo was technically a loan, but it was a similar sort of arrangement.

Arteta came when Gravesen went to Real Madrid...if i remember right was similar situation to Pienarr??

He certainly did mate. Whilst there's no hope of champs league this time around- we've got at least 6 places to catchup if wewant a sniff of Europe next season as pie in the sky as it seems, so hopefully 1st of a few signings that will give us a renewed impetus

Haha fair enough, Pienaar I wasn't sure and Howard I think you are right, although I thought we bought Yobo straight out though, after the 2002 World Cup? Anyway getting a bit off topic, hope this deal goes through and actually proves useful to the team.
