v6Nah, any car as long as it makes you happy, could be a Clio or a turbo Fiat if you want, who's arsed as long as you like it, you know?
I suer as hell am not spending 50k on a "maybe" car like lol
Even as an engineer mate I'd never consider a restoration, way out of mine and most peoples skill sets, and so bloody costly to get it right. In fact I agree with the addage that it's better to buy one that's been done rather than one that needs doing, far cheaper. Being sensible COYB's shout of cheap Fords/MX5's is good..........something that needs tidying and TLC rather than a full resto. Far more therapeutic and kinder on the cash flow.Honestly restoration is time and space consuming - I haven't the space currently, sadly, to try, but I want to provided I have in the future. I've done the "front of the house small mods" route on a few of my cars before, it's quite fun and feels great really.
My unasked for advice for this is to pick a car you'll have fun with, a-la "Mighty Car Mods" on YouTube - doesn't need to have 1000000000 bhp or be the super-specific V8 or something - restomod it so it makes you happy.
It's about 30 years too old to be a modern classic, no?
60k euro for a Clio mate be real lolv6

Over 20 years for some classic insurers mate now, some state 25 years. A lot of the classic meets also have started to stipulate 20 years too to cut down on the more modern tintops rocking up and to leave space for real classics. Unfair on some as some cars are born as a classic.60’s 70’s onwards for insurance.
True mate.To do a full resto, you’ve got to have an army of contacts, as you know, something as small as a grommet or a bolt, that you can’t get hold of, due to them not being made anymore, can completely stop your project dead.
I know lads who’ve bought donor cars / wrecks and pay for storeage, just so they have parts on tap.
I had a 1982 Mercedes SL until fairly recently.Dont understand the attraction of old cars.
Lovely to look at, but why on Earth would you buy 1 when boffins have spent the last 30 years improving them.
Crumple zones for the win.
I really want(ed) to get a Fiat HGT to resto but their price is also insane for no reason.£80k just checked. Some climb in price that.
