Get a MG .... common, easy to look after, every part is available and most parts are very cheap. Great starter classic. But they're also Fords.

I'd simply love a MK3 Cortina 2000GT 2 door early twin headlight model. Shoudn't cost the earth like other Fords of the same era but like bloody hens teeth to find. I'd love to know if your mate has one of these, or even what he thinks of them.Modern classic Fords are affordable and the parts are cheap.
Got a good mate who restores them for a living.
He’s got a warehouse full of his own cars too, which are investments for the future :
Cossys x 3
Loads of RS Escorts
3.0 ghia Granadas
Loads of Capris
Loads of Mk 1 Mini Coopers
Audi Quatros
And bizarrely, Volvo T5’s which he reckons are a future class
Any classic show I go to ALWAYs has some utter gimp park his 5 year old BMW in the middle and start polishing. They just don't get it.Over 20 years for some classic insurers mate now, some state 25 years. A lot of the classic meets also have started to stipulate 20 years too to cut down on the more modern tintops rocking up and to leave space for real classics. Unfair on some as some cars are born as a classic.
Exactly lolAny classic show I go to ALWAYs has some utter gimp park his 5 year old BMW in the middle and start polishing. They just don't get it.
Solid advice if I was in Britain for sure lolGet a MG .... common, easy to look after, every part is available and most parts are very cheap. Great starter classic.
There was an American (muscle) car meet here a few years ago and there was a guy with a 4-5 year old Mustang or so with the classics (70-early 90s muscle cars) cuz "the Mustang is an all time classic" lolAny classic show I go to ALWAYs has some utter gimp park his 5 year old BMW in the middle and start polishing. Thanks mate for that. Capri and the Lotus sound interesting projects too. Great classics!!!He does have a Cortina in amongst them all.
I may see him tomorrow and if I do I`ll ask him.
He`s currently working on a MK1 Capri and a Lotus Talbot - which looks great, but I wouldn`t touch one with a barge pole !!
Thanks mate for that. Capri and the Lotus sound interesting projects too. Great classics!!!
Ahhh so the cars are all for sale he does? I'd be interested in having a peep at what he hasHe`s also got a 205 Peugot 1.9 Gti and a Renault Clio 16V ( not the Williams ) ready to go next.
I`m very tempted by the Peugot, as I had two as a lad, but they`re made from tissue paper and tinfoil lol
Could sell you a very tidy and reliable Daimler V8! Would save me hunting for a garage to rent.Ahhh so the cars are all for sale he does? I'd be interested in having a peep at what he has
That'll sell easily enough although prices on all classics are a bit stagnant at the moments. Is that the opelescent blue car?Could sell you a very tidy and reliable Daimler V8! Would save me hunting for a garage to rent.
Yes. It's currently "in the way" in my elderly neighbour's garage. I think he's trying to shock the family that he bought it.That'll sell easily enough although prices on all classics are a bit stagnant at the moments. Is that the opelescent blue car?

I understand his attitude 100% mate, I'm exactly the same too. They are mate, but he wouldn’t let you look at his collection of private cars, as he’s super paranoid about them.
If you dm me your contacts I’ll pass them onto him with regards to the stuff he has for sale
