I had a 1982 Mercedes SL until fairly recently.

I've driven Astons and Rolls and Bentley's of the past 10/15 years, but none of them made me grin like the Merc.

The windscreen washer pump now leaks.

I received 3 keys with the car, one of which has no apparent use and none of which lock the boot. Ffs! Before trying to find a new lock cylinder and key I had a rummage through a box of over 100 defunct keys I've collected over the years, in a drawer. Part of my collection of "crap" as Mrs chrismpw puts it. Resolved to try each and every key, I pulled up a chair and started.

3rd key for the win! Part of a pair I had sticking out from a fuel filler cap from some random vehicle. Happy days!

lovely motor Chris. I am so missing my old cars. Sold last year in preparation for an emigration that has been somewhat delayed due to family illness and bereavement.

I’ll be getting something as soon as I have a house sorted when we get there.
