The Moyes Era

I can never make Coyle out when he is interviewed on TV.....he talks a mile a minute.

But let Coyle be a lesson to those who fancy bringing Lambert or Rodgers in.

Coyle was last year's flavour of the month and at one time was even being talked about as a potential succcessor to Wenger.

Remember Phil Brown was the next big thing?

The problem with these flavours of the month is they all taste the same.

Me?

I think Phil Neville has the makings of a very good manager and I would like to see Big Joe fetched back the club to team up with Phil.

Anyone think that is a half decent shout?

What about Howard Kendall then lads?

Is he a good manager because of what he done in his first spell or is he a ****e manager because of his record in his second and third spells?

Cause that seems to be purely how managers are judged. Of course the serious answer would be he is a good manager and he proved that first time but why didn't he repeat that success second time if he was that good?

Because there are numerous other factors at play, same ones which gave Moyes the chance to prove hsi worth and why Martinez (and other managers) aren't neccesarily ****e just because they're not achieving exactly the same as Moyes at different clubs and doesn't mean that if given the same chance as Moyes wouldn't be as succesful.

He's an alcoholic, pal.

In all seriousness, though, sadly he is. That's why he was so poor in his second two spells.

I just want us to play some attractive, entertaining football. Or at least try to.

Money does indeed talk in the game nowadays, and we don't have any vocal chords. Perennial bridesmaids might well be the best we can hope for, but sometimes a bridesmaid can be an absolute head-turner on the day, look stunning and steal all the plaudits. Everyone will want to te that first dance with her (and then hopefully get her leathered on bubbly so she'll put out).

But I'm sick of us being the pig-ugly bridesmaid. The one with fat bingo-wing arms and a face that cracks mirrors. You can't polish a turd, no matter how nice the dress or how fairy tale the wedding-day setting is.

Wherever we get our big, special day, Moyes' influence sees that we're the ugly bridesmaid. I'm now at the point where even if I was Best Man, I'd refuse to have the first 'duty' dance with her.

True, but I like to think you can roll it in glitter!

Maybe in his third but i didn't think his second was affected by that at all.

Could be wrong though but even so it shows their are outside factors at play that can determine a managers success.

*yes i know not all managers are on the piss but its still the same point.

To be honest i dont think much has changed.

Alot of people are still thinking about our little bad patch after Irvine left us, and the majority of people blamed Round. Yet when everything starts to go well he doesnt get a mention.

The football hasn't changed.
I think we've played some better footie the last 5 years than the first five but that's probably more to do with improved quality on the field.

Im not sure what your saying here mate, on one hand your saying it was luck on the other you say Daveys the best at it.

I would be a long way of claiming Rodgers is the next messiah if im honest, he didnt build that team and like i said they just barely made it to 40 point despite their plaudits.

To be honest i have been more impressed with Lambert and Norwich to be honest.

Thats said i think its a different play ground at Everton, look what Moyes has done, CL, Euro Qualification, consistent top 8 finishes, cup finals all on less then 5 mill a year and still people want his blood.

We would eat Rodgers and Lambert for breakfeast - its a different job compleatley at Everton. Though i think Lambert will go far. They both have a long way to go to get out of the Paul Ince, Tony Mowbrary, Di Mateo, Ian Hollaway bracket for me.

Sorry, what I meant was it was luck that we had Rooney come through and hence had the money from his sale, but that Moyes largely made good use of the funds he has had.
