I write and record in my bedroom when the wifes out ha ha a few little songs i wrote...
Listen to Love Letters by Tony Mcvey on #SoundCloud

Listen to Give Me a Night by Tony Mcvey on #SoundCloud

Beginning of that first one reminded me of Sultans of Swing

This one is probably as good as I can make it for now - I'd really appreciate any feedback (even if it's not your thing):

I really enjoyed that. I'm an absolute sucker for laid back acoustic music.
It sounds really familiar in a way, but I just cant put my finger on it!

Great stuff :)

Thanks Legend. If you think of what it reminds you of let me know!

Can I ask did anything stand out as wrong or a little off in any way?

Honestly I'd have to really nitpick to find anything 'off' with it.
If I was going to ultra critical, I'd say that 'Rhodes' type piano in there could be a little softer sounding, but I'm clutching at straws here.
It's really good! ;)

Thanks mate, I really appreciate it.

Using the lockdown to write the album we are supposed to be making in june... I made a wall chart. Right hand side is finished songs left hand ideas. Top is album title ideas and the post its are lyric ideas.

I'm working harder on this than I ever did in my job View attachment 81639

About 17000% harder here! Labour of love, I suppose.

I have no idea what to do with anything when I decide something is "finished" though. Even if the world goes dack to some sort of normality, playing live/touring is not something I can do. How are you supposed to get anyone to hear your music, especially if it's not in a defined genre (I honestly don't know what "style" my music is)?

Also - can I suggest an album title?

Look over there! It's... The Distractors

It's not enormously expensive to have some vinyl pressed...

For a start I would recommend publishing on the usual streaming services and bandcamp. Then publicising on social media, ask blogs and websites for review. You probably wont make any money but it gets it out there. On bandcamp as well, people can pay to download and, according to their publicity, 50% of people pay more than asked. YouTube as well.

From that you can gauge demand for physical copies, merch etc.

It sounds lame but I am of the opinion that, after artistic stuff, the goal of any artist should be to build a community of fans around social media.

We'll release the single digitally in the next few weeks (as soon as I get the cover done) but before then I'll clean up the live show we did a bit and put those on bandcamp as some sort of surrogate for shows people can hear.

I've started recording music again all of a sudden, haven't written or recorded anything in about 4 years and it feels great

Still not finished (I'm aware of at least some of the flaws), but a more focussed version of Morning Star - any and all feedback appreciated:

Can anyone recommend me a decent drum machine ~£300? Preferably much less but appreciate drum machines go from complete rubbish to very good without any in between.

Bonus points for bluetooth with no USB connector.

I reckon there’ll be quite a lot of creative material coming out once this is all over. I’m doing tonnes of painting.
Also, did you ever try beta blockers to stop the stage fright? Always used to take them before presentations to stop the nerves kicking in.
