Assuming that Dyche was removed next week ( wishful thinking I know ) who would be on the short list ?

I agree that Potter would be a progressive change but highly risky in mid season.

Who else would be on the list ?

I don't think it will be a British manager imo. I could see one of the German guys, TFG are said to be fans of the German way of doing things maybe an Italian like Sarri, but someone like that would need proper backing.

I like him, but has he enough of a management CV up to now? I feel (going off Mourinho to Roma) they’d go for more of an established name.

That's Italian football and I think the glamour names are a bit more relevant over there tbh. I think the general style of play there is different to the PL and Jose fitted in there (For a short while) The PL requires a manager/coach who is a bit more dynamic and tactically aware imo. I think PL management is all about the details, I think the best guys like Pep, Klopp, Arteta and co are genuinely 24/7 with it hence Klopp saying he doesn't want to manage for a while whereas I think guys like Dyche fall down cause they are 9-5 guys.

Re. RvN, I was more meaning that I reckon they would want more of a track record than he has shown up to now - he might be great, but is still a little bit of an unknown quantity up to now. Winning games with a recently relieved Man U squad is probably a little easier than coming in here mid-season.

RVN has been a coach for over 10 years and a season in charge at PSV.

Of course it would get a risk but then every appointment would be.

Suspect you’re correct, they will go for the highest profile manager and proven. Who? God only knows. Right or wrong I still have a gut feeling the Mourinho talk has legs…

If he can transfer his good work with PSV over to the Prem, then fantastic.

Reckon TFG won’t be in much of a gambling mood tho.

Then again, looking at their scattergun approach to managerial appointments in Roma this season

I think Carlo was very much a 24/7 guy, He has been a top player and a top manager. I know he isn't big on the transfer side of things and prefers to work with a DoF so that he can concentrate on working with the players. Carlo has always been very good at blending egos into a system that works and wins things, that takes a lot of skill.
As for RvN he has only managed twice but his record is not bad 50% career win rate (so far)
