Diego Simeone,,,,but we'd need to act really fast and this takeover once ratified would probably be our last chance of landing the cat...

If we managed somehow to do that, that would be one of the most mind-blowing signings, he rejected some top clubs in the past, even tho I consider Atletico as one as well.

Doesn't speak English tho.

Whatever people say and criticise Carsley about the home Greece performance he has done a good job at U23 and he has been the one who has brought so many U23s into the senior squad.
He does seem to have the ability
I thought it was fine. He experimented in a game that wasn't that important. One of the failings of many managers is not to have alternative plans and international friendlies or the nations league is an ideal time to try out something different rather than have to try things on the fly in a major tournament. It shows he's thinking ahead and willing to try something different.

I like the trust he has in his squad. Not afraid to select new players and give opportunities to his whole squad. Under Southgate, it was very much him picking his favourites (sound familiar?)

I imagine our new owners will want a more ‘fashionable’ manager. Carsley would be a massive upgrade on Dyche though
I get where you coming from, but I do wonder how much sway being (interim) England manager might have on them. Esp with some of the results.

The nostalgic part of me would love him to come in and be a success, the Everton part makes me think we would destroy his fledgling reputation 😢

I can see us going for Thomas Frank with Carsley going to Brentford and thriving there in a professional set up. I like the fact that Carsley backs himself and tries things that are different. It might not work, but I’d much rather see him given a go than Frank or another Koeman/Benitez type appointment. I think we desperately need a leader who can relate to the modern footballer, who wants to (and can) coach and improve players, not just a stick to plan A and make like for like subs on 65 mins!.

The problem with Carsley is that he clearly doesn't like the media side of things and in the PL you are obligated as part of the job. He is being linked with Coventry atm (had over 80 applications for the job!) a role like that would be good for him for a couple of seasons to get a feel of things, then jump up to the PL. I don't know whether Frank comes here but imo he is exactly the sort of profile we want in terms of he is a top motivator and a very good tactician which is what Id like to see us go for.

Imagine thinking Lee Carsley is a better manager than Moyes or Dyche

I mean, he might prove to be in time, but I personally don't believe we're in a position to gamble.

I'd have Southgate before Carsley, and I don't rate him, but at least he's been an actual manager of a senior team for more than 500 minutes.

Moyes or Mourinho for me, once TFG are in a position to get their own man in that is. Let one of them get us in firmly back in to the top half, and then we can start looking to be more progressive with future manager selection.

In my opinion, anybody who want us to take a gamble, can't be that arsed about our future. Clubs who've been averaging 41 points over a sustained period shouldn't be taking gambles.

Carsley at least doesn’t seem stubborn in his ways and is willing to learn and change and give younger players a chance as well

I'm sure there's other people with these traits you know. Sums up Frank Lampard tbh, though I'm sure there's better club managers than him about with similar traits or qualities.

Can the next manager just be somebody with an actual track record in club management please?
