Totally agree with all of that. I think the slow builder bit is really key too, it concerns me that there’s talk of him coming in as a firefighter for 6 months because that’s not what he’s about really. One of his main strengths is recruitment and on a short term deal you’re not making use of that at all. I don’t care that he left it was 12 years ago and he gave excellent service it’s not like he jumped ship at the first opportunity so people need to get over it frankly, it’s just that he’d be a bad fit for what we need right now.

Yes I agree and honestly that seems to be a lot of what those who support his appointment want, and as you say it's not really him. He probably won't use the signings we would make in January. He's naturally very cautious. He's kind of the opposite of what you'd want for a short term caretaker.

This will sound controversial, but given that Dyche's teams tend to get better through a season, I'm really not sure you get much upside for swapping Moyes to Dyche for 6 months. I think the two periods would feel very similar.

Who, you?

I'd want to know, why O Neil should be a better manager than Dyche, and Dyche is not a top manager by any means.

Give it a rest. I heard from someone who worked with Moyes when he was at Everton. They are also talking about another role for Moyes at the end of the season. I'm just passing on what I was told, so take it or leave it. Personally I hope it doesn't happen.
There's also talk of Southgate being liked by the Friedkin Group. I hope that doesn't mean he'll be the new manager. :coffee: (n)

From what I've heard they are looking at Moyes until the end of the season and bringing him in just before or just after the City game. Whilst I don't agree with that approach, obviously they are very concerned about possibility of relegation to be considering it. I could live with that as long as he's not given any more time that that which is the danger and would frankly tip me over the edge!
Firstly if you’re saying you’ve heard it I’m not saying you haven’t.

I can imagine the new owners considering this as a plan but unless it’s heavily incentivised I’m not sure why more would take it as he could easily end up on the shortlist for say wolves and find himself getting 4 years wages .

If this was a path the club took you’d also hope they began interviewing replacements and even privately secured the deal prior to seasons close because we’ve seen time and time again in football owners being fooled by a short term interim coach bounce in form then offering a new deal only for the next season to find the team fall off a cliff .

Whatever is happening I hope TFG are already well underway on their plans for this season and next .

Allegri may have his downsides, one of which is his pragmatist style of play, he’s actually not a million miles away from the likes of Mourinho, Moyes and perhaps even Dyche in prioritising the outcome over performance.

The alternative is the likes of Conceicao, who play ‘possession based football’.

If we really do want evolution rather than revolution, then Allegri is the more appropriate option. I don’t think we have the players to start attempting the possession style of football that is employed by Conceicao in the middle of this relegation battle.

Valid point and I asked the same question tbh. All I was told was that there was also discussion going on about a different role after the summer. As to your other point I would hope and expect that they are doing that, there is surely no long term future for Moyes as Everton manager.

Given his record it would be foolish to not be given serious consideration to appointing him. Who else that's available can match it?
