I honestly cannot fathom why he is even up for discussion for this job. Imagine how much we'd laugh if the RS had Houlier (who won loads) back - it is just so weak.
Moyes just got Wham a euro cup though - doesnt that make him more successful than somebody like Potter, Frank etc. ? - even in recent times - forgetting our history with him.

If we have got the funds to support a better manager than Moyes then we should do that - we obviously need to look forward now.

One trophy in twenty years for a fan base that wanted him out. Maybe we could go for Ranieri??

I know we're obscenely starved of silverware - but even so, I'd rather we increase our competitiveness, climb the table and find ourselves in the conversation for real success than a one-off trophy win, personally.

We need a platform to get us back where we belong more than we need a single trophy.

It's not about winning stuff. It's about playing entertaining football now.

Potter on Monday Night Football tonight. Must be getting ready for his return…..but where 🤔
Done the big broadsheet interview too, the full “gis a job” playbook. His agents obviously reckon sacking season is about to get underway.

I doubt he’d be doing too much twerking for a potential Southampton job as that would be more about whether he wants it than whether they want him. But he’ll have an eye on United / West Ham / Everton as more ambitious potential options I reckon.

Just reading a few different people's opinions about ambition and we are kind of back to that early-Moshiri were people were moaning about ambition, mentality etc.

Several years later there was hindsight saying they wished somebody (and Moyes was mentioned) had been more frugal and sensible in our growth.

So, where are we at ? Are we looking for todays Koeman or Silva again ?

Hopefully when the takeover goes through people stop mentioning Moyes etc.

Aim for what the club wants.

Sadly a large portion of the fan base don’t want to shift that loser mindset.
Moyes was logical to be talking about a week or so ago. If Dyche had to go he could’ve stepped into a club with no settled ownership as a fairly safe choice, and would’ve probably been willing to do so.

The ownership announcement (and to some extent three points) change that a lot- it’ll remain the club’s position to ideally muddle through with Dyche til at least the formal completion of TFG unless things become totally untenable and if / when they bring in their own man it’s very unlikely to be Moyes.

If you define success purely in terms of trophies, yes. But that's a dangerous criteria on which to judge Moyes. He won nothing with us for 11 years, yet he was still "successful" in terms of what Bill Kenwright's (mediocre, self-serving, and very modest) ambitions for Everton were. Frank has done a tremendous job with a tiny club. Being in the top flight is very much "success" for Brentford. Potter, I think, has a weaker case. Brighton appear to have done well without him, partly because they are so well-run and have processes and ínfrastructure in place that are independent of the man in the dugout.

We will have the funds to support a good manager. We don't need to restrict ourselves to our own limited gene pool any more.

To borrow a phrase from the environmentists,
we need sustainable development.

TFG have a very solid reputation for prudent financial management so whilst I expect them to spend I don't think things will run amok with lavish and lengthy contracts.

The issue is as much who they recruit - at all levels - as much as what they spend. We have to develop a model of making profit on player trading whilst not under the duress we are currently, tied with increased commercial revenue to bolster the kitty.

It's the on the recruitment side that TFG have to prove themselves - they haven't much moved the dial with Roma to date - so let's hope they learn.

They will undoubtedly improve us I think as the bar is so low. But you want them to do the best they can.
