I wonder what this will mean for Thelwell? Moyes known to not tolerate Directors of Football that well and wants to control recruitment. Quite well documented how it was difficult between him and Tim Steidten at West Ham.

I was going to say ....it would be interesting to see Moyes being able to spend decent money ....but Wham spent big under him and that wasn't fantastic - well it was ok. But thinking about it did they spend the money on players he wanted and that suited his system?

Moyes is very old school and works with a DoF under sufferance. To some extent I don't blame him because he arguably has a far better eye for a player than most DoFs.

So the big question is , are TFG going to let him get on with it , will he have to work Thelwell or someone else and how is that going to work out?

This is pretty much the conflict between the fans of younger and older generations.

People that started following Everton in the bitter 90s think, I'd take that again the Moyes years again instead of being 16th, 15th, 12th, 17th or whatever.

People that witnessed Everton in the 70s and 80s winning multiple titles, think the best of the rest mentality doesn't do credit to one of the biggest clubs in the country.
^^^^^^ This ^^^^^^

It’s like Kenwright has infected half the fan base with his ‘We’ve had good times’ rubbish.

Would have preferred a short term deal.
The contract makes perfect sense if you want a new progressive manager to be handed a club with solid foundation rather than a relegation battle you could hope what Moyes did at West Ham could be done where where a few shrewd signings and next season it's a solid mid table finish and then you're looking for someone to take on that rather than this.
