Mourinho saying TFG didn't know their arse from their elbow when it come to football wasn't just a flippant remark. I think it was The Athletic that said there was no chance of that ever happening because of how it ended at Roma.

And if that's true about them not knowing their arse from their elbow, then it makes sense that they would get someone like Moyes in to try and settle things down, just as Ranieri is now starting to do at Roma.

I'm not saying it's ideal btw, but at least it looks like they've been very efficient in binning Dyche and instantly contacting a replacement who they must feel can do something similar to Ranieri

So am I, but since then ive had 3 kids and a Grandchild.

Yes, it was THAT long ago.
I’m one grandchild ahead of you 😀
My one solace is that my eldest was with me at
Wembley in 95 (he was already a season ticket holder) saw Southall win us the cup and briefly glimpsed what an Everton should look like .

He took Sunderland down in 2017 with

Pickford
Bryan Oviedo
Joleon Lescott
Jack Rodwell
Steven Pienaar
Darron Gibson
Victor Anichebe

Utterly irrelevant today but 5 of those were recruited that summer and 3 from Manchester United.

Hopefully if there are transfers this window he/the club cast their net a little bit wider than simply former players. who had largely been out out to pasture.

Unfortunately this is something literally every manager seems to do

Martinez signed some absolute honkers for us from Wigan

I just have no faith that we will "push this club on". Appointing David Moyes is exactly what Kenwright would have done. TFG aren't exactly "changing the story", to paraphrase a certain bald tosser.
I agree with you and i am pretty much down the middle i agree with everything said against it. Is another frustrating move becuase well is a move for the now not really the future. And the length of the contract i agree with people 2.5 years is alot would have been 1.5 for me with an option of met goals. Think for me will be the sort of players we bring in if they set a similar profile as roma young players.

He left to take probably one of the biggest jobs in club football at the time.
And he wasn't ready for that job in retrospect. But then again, no manager in the world was at that time. Well, maybe Beckenbauers etc would've been.

The shoes he stepped in to were massive and the owner of those boots really didn't leave too bright of a legacy behind him. Ageing group of know-all-w*nkers (albeit they had merits under their belts) who just didn't want to put their heads down anymore etc. It was a mission impossible right from the start. There is that story about Moyes showing how Jags was playing for Everton and asking the Utd D to do similar kind of things. They laughed him off. "Fooqin Phil Jagielka? This guy showing us Phil Jagielka?" And yes, that was wrong way to present his ideas to that group of players but those players were also absolute stnucs.

He has shown some learning curve along the way.

Also even when he's more defensive minded it seems more tactically nuanced rather than just putting 10 guys in front of the ball
Yeah definitely.

We saw loads of aggressive defensive displays under him. The kind that gets goodison rocking like nowhere else.

None of this stick all your men within 20 yards of our goal and cross all your fingers and toes nonsense.

We are swapping like for like.
And these gormless owners have mishandled things so badly that they got rid of one manager before they intended and been forced into appointing another bottom feeding manager because they had no contingency plan .
We are a truly unfortunate club.
I currently wish 777 had succeeded with their bid , all our problems would have been sorted by now .😀

i know your messing!

I'd rather Fonseca because I think he could build something here which would bring the love of football back to us, but Moyes would be steady if unremarkable and I'd be confident of us staying up so I don't hate it either.

Meh, its not great, to be honest, was hoping to wake up today and see other names had moved ahead.

But its Moyes, so sadly we gotta get behind him, until such a time he doesnt deserve our support.
