And he wasn't ready for that job in retrospect. But then again, no manager in the world was at that time. Well, maybe Beckenbauers etc would've been.

The shoes he stepped in to were massive and the owner of those boots really didn't leave too bright of a legacy behind him. Ageing group of know-all-w*nkers (albeit they had merits under their belts) who just didn't want to put their heads down anymore etc. It was a mission impossible right from the start. There is that story about Moyes showing how Jags was playing for Everton and asking the Utd D to do similar kind of things. They laughed him off. "Fooqin Phil Jagielka? This guy showing us Phil Jagielka?" And yes, that was wrong way to present his ideas to that group of players but those players were also absolute stnucs.

He has shown some learning curve along the way.
No matter who took that job at the time was destined to fail with that squad, Ferguson got the best out of them the previous season. The senior players at Utd thought they were untouchable and didn’t need to be coached. Utd havnt been the same since Ferguson left and have probably spent billions on players since.

I think there are some personal resentments and grievances, understably so from some of the fanbase that taints their overall perception of how moyes operated as a manager. The fact he was complicit in some manner of prolonging kenwright'ts shoddy reign and the manner in which he left the club and then proceeded to raid it for cherished players. I get the contempt and wariness but as a manager he is a step up in the right direction and hopefully we can make the transition to a top tier manager but right now we need to transform and cultivate the squad

I agree with you and i am pretty much down the middle i agree with everything said against it. Is another frustrating move becuase well is a move for the now not really the future. And the length of the contract i agree with people 2.5 years is alot would have been 1.5 for me with an option of met goals. Think for me will be the sort of players we bring in if they set a similar profile as roma young players.
I think the comment on players is fair, that will probably be the acid test. On the signing of players, however, that is an area where Moyes has always wanted full control and that isn't the model TFG seem to operate. I really don't want yet another era of dysfunction between manager and DoF. We've Ll seen where that leads.

Fair point mate, but none of know what they are up to as yet. It may be that Moyes is seen as a good fit, however early rumours said that they had someone lined up but they were still in work, hence keep Dyche until the summer, the bring in their No.1 choice.

That is the storyline I prefer to believe in (though it all all rumour and probably a load of Bollix). Because the alternative (they think he is the bees knees and the answer to their prayers) is too disturbing to contemplate. So I will sit in my little fantasy bubble singing ‘la la la’ and clamping my hands to my ears until the end of the season and hope that they version I have chosen to believe comes true. ;)
But hasn't Moyes been the best-performing British manager over the past five years?

For all the stick he gets, Moyes’ teams could actually play football.
Even in our most grim times under him, I don’t remember the game plan ever being to lump it in the general direction of a striker and hope to win a second ball.
I remember him playing five centre backs at home against Bolton.

Meh, its not great, to be honest, was hoping to wake up today and see other names had moved ahead.

But its Moyes, so sadly we gotta get behind him, until such a time he doesnt deserve our support.
He doesn’t have my support or my respect , I wouldn’t urinate on him if he was on fire .
But I will continue to support the team as always ( for this season anyway , big decision to make soon concerning next season I suppose )
