Give it up with the length of contracts..,,it means nothing. One thing we learned this week.....we are judge and jury, the club are the executioners. And a positive out of this is.....the new owners were listening. Mosh wouldn't have.

Errrr he listened to literally every word in his first few years at the club and did everything the fans wanted.

Not my first choice, not by a long shot.

But more than willing to give him 30 minutes of the Villa game before booing the crap out of him.

We are really in a difficult situation but with 2 home games coming up (albeit against tough opposition) I think he's experienced enough as a manager and understanding the fanbase and how to get them onside, that'll if anyone can hit the ground running with a positive result or 2, it'll be Moyes.

So you can put that Moyes rebuild thing to bed then.

There will be a director of football, whether it Thelwell or someone else.

It's pointless making scenarios like this up in your head mate.

It's more the idea that the feller bringing the team in for a brand new era of the club, inside a brand new state of the art stadium, could be the same as the one we had in from 2002 to 2013.

It's like going back in time to a parallel universe

But we can never have anything nice can we.

Not read the whole of this thread but there's some weird reactions to this potential news in here. People even making up scenarios that probably won't even play out and getting upset about them.

TFG initially wanted this season to pan out with Dyche leaving when his contract was up in the summer having stayed up comfortably, allowing them to go and get 'their man' and start afresh. They've made the right decision to get rid of him now as it certainly wasn't panning out that way. There's no manager worth their salt who would be willing to take on a 6 month contract just to see out a season - I think this will ultimately push TFGs plans back 12 months as I can't see a contract shorter than 18 months being signed.

Whether we like it or not, I'm sure we still have a PSR tightrope to walk. Moyes certainly isn't an inspiring choice, but a manager of his experience with no contract to buy out is an understandable choice.

The time for a young, up and coming manager to come in is the summer, with a full transfer window and pre-season to get the team up to speed and allow time for inevitable bumps in the road during the season without really threatening our PL status. We don't have the buffer to allow for that now.

Some of the levels of delusion on here ... the amount of posts about length of contract ... who gives a monkeys. If he's successful, he stays. If he fails, he's sacked. That's all that matters. There aren't a ream of posts on here talking about Dyches settlement is there? So it doesn't matter.
Secondly the talk about how it's not what we expected from the new owners and doesn't bode well for the future..... We are in a crisis here. Three points above the drop zone, can barely score from open play against a league one side. The long term vision goes on hold now. Going into BMD while in the Premier League is the only thing that's important now.
I thought some of this level of delusion was reserved for those loons on RAWK but it must be contagious. Realism needed.
Your the one who delusional here mate

It’s 1 point above the relegation zone lol

I think some perspective is required here

Right now we’re in a relegation battle, we’re still not out of the PSR jungle, and we’ve got a squad of players who either aren’t that great or have mentally checked out

Do you really want to throw a bright young manager into shark infested waters like that? Would any of them even want the job under the current circumstances?

It’s probably time for an experienced head to get us out of the mud in the short term

If Moyes does get it, then it’s going to be more about laying the table and steadying the foundation for the manager that follows him

Moyes will be a stop along the way, not the final destination

There’s a bigger picture here that goes beyond the next six months
100% agree.

But also, boooooooo! He's a weasel.

Mate fully appreciate that it feels like we're stuck in this perpetual loop of crap but 30 years of mismanagement weren't going to disappear over night.

Evertonians need to get out of this Woe is me mindset.

I dont believe there are any top level managers we can attract right now. But that doesn't mean it's the wrong decision to sack Dyche, because we had no other option

The situation dictates why we are likely to appoint Moyes. An unexciting, slightly underwhelming, but ultimately solid upgrade on Dyche who will do a better job. I get it to be honest and don't think we can criticise it too much.
