All very well to say “what if we tried and failed?” but did we try?!

If we made ambitious moves and got knocked back and THEN reached for the safety net then fine. Crap, but fine, it’s an understandable sequence of events.

It seems, though - and not for the first time I could be wrong - that we’ve FINALLY binned off the latest purveyor of turgid football to darken our stadium, only to go running straight for Uncle Davey.

As stated, might all work out boss and be the first step in a master plan that takes us to the stratosphere but right now I feel proper badly let down.
Yeah, but it wasn’t so long ago there was a chance the club could go to the wall.

The way I see it is they do want a progressive, ambitious managerial appointment but they’re wanting someone who’s in a job at the moment. So the logical step is to get someone who knows the club and is relatively low risk, like they’ve done at Roma with Ranieri.
Very probably mate. Maybe they’ve had words with a top target and got a handshake for an end of season move in which case I defo get it. My worry is that they haven’t, and that they’re so inflexible that once their top 1 or 2 were out of bounds they pressed the panic button.

Might sound paranoid but I’m a 42yo Everton fan so you can understand why I might be!

I'm not that bad yet, mate.
I guarantee you the pundits will be knives out for him balancing this “safe hands” rhetoric versus the utter lack of vision.

Its astounding. I can’t believe they don’t have any better option than a fella who has been sacked more times than trophies he’s won.

All depends on the contract length for me. If this is a Ranieri type thing in which Moyes is just here to tuck us in safely and snuggly into the new stadium, then I’m right on board. If it’s a 3 year contract then that’s not as good.
If that's the case it might be ok. But are you going to get the same commitment and drive from a manager who knows they're going? Moyes seems a safe pair of hands but even so, safety isn't guaranteed. He had some awful runs of form with us.

And you’re gargling their nuts like you assume they did?!

None of us knows for sure, I’m just reacting to what it seems like to me. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, and all that.

No I’m not. I’m just offering up a different scenario. We don’t even know if they’ll appoint him. Chill out and enjoy the win tonight.

I'd rather Moyes than Potter I think. Potter did well at Brighton where he fitted their set up but was rubbish at Chelsea when he didn't have the same support. He certainly won't have any form of set up at Everton and I think would've struggled.

Moyes knows things a bit better and can steady things. And he's not as negative as Dyche, though it would be hard to get any more so!

Dyche has clearly forced their hand in this, unfortunately it’s a no brainer,
Especially if the rumours are correct that the manager they want is still currently employed.
It’s far from perfect but maybe the correct decision in the circumstances.
