Firmly in the needs must camp, can't see a better candidate and it's our PL future on the line going into our big stadium move so no wiggle room for a bum appointment. Moyes and Carsley with the baton being passed in 18 month sounds a reasonable plan

Has this club not learnt it's lesson from Kendall's endless failed returns?

I'm fed up with this club and our fans constantly looking back not forward. Everyday on social media you see "bring him back" "re sign him" "get Big Dunc" etc etc to previous employees of the club.

I don't want Moyes back under any circumstances and that's before I get to him talking to Man Utd behind our backs, deliberately running his contract down so we go no compo off one of the richest clubs in the world and putting in derisory bids for our players when he was there.

He did a good job when he was here but he's now yesterdays man and people are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think someone with an ego the size of Moyes will take a deal just to the end of the season just to be dispensed with in the summer.

I think we're looking to bring him in based on his experience, quality as a manager and availability. I don't think TFG will be looking at it any other way.

If Carsley were to be a part of Moyes' backroom staff (which I wouldn't mind), you'd like to think that he could be a potential successor for Moyes. Having him there could offer the club the opportunity to determine whether he would be a decent fit for the role in the future. I'm not necessarily saying that Carsley should follow Moyes, just that it would be ideal to determine whether he is up to scratch.

One dinosaur for another dinosaur

I think it’s important to remember that it’s been over 10 years since he left. He’s vastly more experienced now, having had some good failures to learn steeply from. He’s a better manager than the one that left us.

Whether he’s got better players to manage this time around is another question entirely.

An awful decision which is such a backwards step. Imagine a brand new ground with new owners and the first game is led by a manager who was first appointed 20 odd years ago and after he left then tried to stiff us for two of our best players.

As a club we can never look to the future if we don't let go of the past.

Is he? He got progressively worse as a manager for us after this first 5-6 years imo. I'm on the fence if this goes through.

He has also won a pot and done well in Europe

If you cant look back 12 months ago and think how stupid you were then you can’t have improved much. I think he’s learnt a lot since he left us through failing at United, sociedad, Sunderland even West Ham to a certain extent - his recent interviews have been very good.
