When do we stop with the short term plans? It's been years and years of short term plans.Let’s have a short term plan first, stay in the premier league.
So he is a Rantallion.I’ve made a list of pros and cons to weigh this up.
Pros:
Knows the club
has likely watched us a fair bit so will know the squad.
Does not eat worms
Cons:
Very boring
Face like a walnut
Nutsack hangs round his knees.
We can't just keep paying multiple managers gigantic seven figure salaries. Eventually we have to be free of this seemingly neverending cycle of short term appointments. We don’t have to keep him until the end of his contract.
Indeed, it may well have been discussed that he’s only there for 6 months and he wants the pay-off.
It’s exactly the deal we had with Allardyce.
Look, I understand he’s not the dream appointment. But we were never going to get our man in a hurry mid-season.
Given that, I can live with this marriage of convenience. Sometimes pragmatism is the right choice.
The most successful one was Carlo with Real Madrid but generally it ends in tears. Players coming back as manager's don't count though as that's not really coming back.Funny enough they do.
Different ways, different levels.
Arsenal brought Arteta back, he played for them.
Liverpool brought Daglish back. (Levels eh, sacked him after reaching two cup finals and winning the League cup).
Chelsea brought back Mourinho.
Man Utd brought back Solskjaer.
West Ham brought back, erm, Moyes.
That's just a little list off the top of my head.
Does it ever go well?Newcastle brought back Shearer
Newcastle brought back Keegan
Probably others as well
you got a link to this athletic piece mate?Having read the Athletic piece from today, that seems to be the Friedkins' view of things: looking for somebody to pick us up out of the dirt, solidify things so we're not trying to stave off relegation every year, and then go back to the kicking-on part of the plan from there, after a year or two.
Can't say that I won't be disappointed if that's the plan, as I had hoped that they would be more aggressive in the summer, and I still think they wanted to do that before Dyche forced their hand. But it sounds like they are in fact willing to give Moyes a year or two to get things fully under control. Don't love it, but I at least understand where they're coming from. Plus Moyes has a reputation for picking out players without breaking the bank, which they have to be looking at when needing to replace half a squad in basically one window or so.
Technically none-ce as he also saw out his first contract as well.
So he is a Rantallion.
Probably when we aren’t the second worst team in the division based on recent performances. When do we stop with the short term plans? It's been years and years of short term plans.
‘In theory’.. there’s your problem right away! If it was that easy everyone would have managers for decades!Woeful take.
Most cost effective move would be bringing in a manager now that, in theory, could take us forward for 5+ years. Any decent manager could keep us up this year.
