The sale of Fellaini

He's scored as many goals as Cahill ever did in that Role. He hasn't exactly hit the 20 mark. Cahill did a lot more in that role aswell, he ran his socks of all game. Him playing there has proved we don't really need him midfield either so when he goes there will be no gaping hole to replace.

As I said a real number 10 who will score 10-15 a season and assist another 10 will slot into that position no problem. I don't buy, he's carried us. He hasn't. He's scored a few goals just like Cahill did he's been no better.

it was cahill's natural position, it's not fellaini's so the fact they've scored a similar amount surely indicates a better achievement from fellaini. not sure how you can say we don't need him in midfield, have you watched osman and neville in midfield all season??

i'm not saying fellaini should be playing ACM, like i said earlier, people have figured it out. Cahill was a great player for us, but bar his goals and workrate he offered little else, hence why he was so useless in his last year with his legs gone and he stopped scoring. Fellaini has a much bigger impact on every game

The only reason i want to sell Fellaini is because he's the one we'll get the most money for.

He is undoubtedly a top draw defensive midfielder, or destructive, whatever you want to call it and he is also a good option up top when nothing else is working.

I'd much rather we could keep him, but the squad won't get improved.

Fellaini has scored 12 goals in 28 starts this season. In comparison the most goals Tim Cahill scored for us in a single season was 12, and he was always played in that role behind the striker. Fellaini is a very effective striking option when used correctly.

I'm saying he can easily be replaced witg th kind of money he'll command. And for me further cements that playing behind the striker in a Moyes team, you will get the opportunity for goals. I think he's completely overated. He's a thorn in the oppositions side and whilst his technically ability has improved 10 fold he's no technical superstar. He's not a clever creative player. He's a bulldozer.

Regarding central midfield,he hasn't played there all season so when he's gone it's not asif we're going to miss his presence in there. It's best for all party's for him to move on and I've no doubt we can find a replacement.

Do you think we can't get someone more effective in there. 12 goals isn't fantastic.

okay, that clears it up a bit mate. it's all about opinions, i think he's quality, but I agree he shouldn't be behind the striker, he's not that type of player, it worked early on, but his goals have been more due to his size rather than his attacking awareness. He also lacks all the other characteristics that position requires. The fact is we should be missing his presence in centre mid because that's where he should be playing. I'd like to see us spend his transfer money on a new striker, keeper and a centre mid with a good engine i.e. fer, dembele myself.

12 in 28 when he's spent plenty of that time not playing that position is pretty impressive, imo.

Hes played there a few times before this season. It's not a new role. Also like to compare how many goals the teams scored collectively in the whole season when Cahill was here. Because I think this current team creates a lot more chances

Fellaini polarises opinion to a ridiculous degree. One of the camps is obviously wrong and that is the one that wants to see him in another shirt. For too long we've kept s**** and sold the only talent we have and always on the promise of jam tomorrow. An old tired first 11 yet we appear to want to sell our chief asset to bring in squad players.

he's our top scorer and in many people's opinion our best player, he's to an extent carried us this season. and this is all being achieved when he's out of position. The only reason i'm happy for him to go is the hope we could actually improve our team. i.e. sell for £25m, bring in 3 new first teamers.

but 3 first teamers who can step into the team - not what that article says by bringing in a few youngsters in the hope of selling them for a profit - not working well for arsenal is it?

I think getting rid of Fellaini for say £25 million or even more might benefit our team.
I would love to see our philosophy and style of play change, more fluent. With players like Coleman, Mirallas, Baines and Pienaar we could be the next Swansea! It won't happen under Moyes, but to add to them would be great.

Ah but you see that's a different argument.

In terms of goals, Juan Mata has 10 in 26 league games. Fellaini isn't doing too bad.

I don't think anybody wants to see him in another shirt.

The reality is that we need money to improve the squad, and selling Fellaini is the best chance of doing so. Mirallas cost £6m, we might get £25m for Fellaini. Think about it...

His value would have went down after last week.

We would be extremely lucky to get £30m for him, really need him to perform over the next few months.

The only teams that would pay £30m+ would be Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid.
