The Sancho is overrated thread

Struggling to see much in him for the moment.

Needed better individual treatment integrating him into the United playing system which in turn is a bit "muddied" and underperforming. Add to that his transfer fee and the associated expectations, you'd be more surprised if succeeded straight away.

Seeing as he's not our player, I will give him half a season or so to see if he starts performing before I pass judgement. If he was in blue, I'd be having a good moan about him probably.

He's quality just like Van Der Beek is.

Van Der Beek tearing it up with that Ajax team in 18-19 who bossed the CL that season, he looked amazing with De Jong in that midfield 3, driving from midfield and scoring goals and pressing, he was supposed to be going to Real Madrid, but Covid happened and Real shelved the deal, so United snagged him that summer, i remember that game away to Juve when Ajax smashed them 4-1 in the knockouts, VDB was a monster in that game, i think he scored 2, Juve just couldn't handle that high energy Ajax team who toyed with them.

OGS just has not got a clue , put Sancho and VDB with Klopp, Tuchel and Guardiola and they are important mainstays of their team, OGS just does doesn't have the tactical know how to play a 433 that Sancho and VDB were perfect for at Ajax and Dortmund, OGS tries it for a game and then resorts back to the safer 4231 with 2 defensive midfielders of the awful diabolical stealing a living McFred.

Another example of United mish mash recruitment, they buy Bruno for £65 million, then 6 months later buy VDB for £50 million, what was the point when they know OGS is going to play with 2 defensive midfielders and Bruno in a midfield 3, just a stupid deal that makes me wonder if United bought VDB knowing a rival was lining him up.

Sancho will come good, he was bossing it for 3 seasons in a row at Dortmund, he's playing for a manager who's utterly clueless right now.

He actually looked pretty threatening linking up with Ronaldo against us.

Not as good as Gray though.

I just don't see any quality from him. I don't think he's very good.

The Bundesliga was absolutely the right league for him to flourish in.

And United were absolutely the wrong team for him to go to in England.

He's an exceptional talent. I remember seeing him in his early Dortmund days actually live at a game and honestly it was brilliant to watch him.

However, of course he's overhyped. Because in this FIFA-ratings driven, social media age, most young players are.

Mbappe is overhyped. He's an incredible talent, but he's overhyped. Same with Alexander-Arnold, Rashford and loads of other young players.

Sancho's had a shaky start. Came into United unfit, they've gone and got Ronaldo so now the whole team has to be built around him and they've got a crap manager. He still came on and gave Godfrey a fair bit of a fright the other day like.

He thrived in Germany because he got tons of gametime, in a league where forwards are allowed to just be forwards and fans aren't obsessed with tracking back. That being said, you can't not work defensively in the PL or, you can only have one player who doesn't do it in the team and then the others have to sacrifice. In the cases of the best players, it is worth it, mind.

The right move for Sancho was, probably, another year in Germany or, if he was to come to the PL, somewhere, really, like Liverpool. Spurs under Poch would've been the ideal type of team too. Still think he'll come good, it's only been a month or so.
