The Sancho is overrated thread

With OGS desperation of going to 352 which is the default formation for a manager who hasn't got a clue how to fix his defence so i'll play 7 defensive players is bad news for Sancho.

Sancho hasn't got a chance of starting even more now, he can't play wingback and the #10 role will be Bruno's, and he certainly cannot play as a striker, which leaves him on the bench until OGS is no longer there, OGS's last throw of the dice playing that negative formation.

Interesting take by Jonathan Wilson in the Guardian. Suggests City should have signed Sancho and Utd should have signed Grealish. The idea being that Sancho is a player who needs, and works well within a structured set up such as City's. Whereas Grealish, more of an individualist, could flourish at rudderless* Utd.

Not sure but he might have a point.

* My choice of words, not his

Was definitely an interesting article and seemed plausible to me. I think we're at the point where none of Utd's attackers are playing that brilliantly at the moment though.

Yeah, I read that same piece and the part for me that stood out was in relation to United not knowing how to press and win the ball back higher up the pitch.

Sancho thrived under Favre for exactly that reason and would do the same with City. It's a pretty damning verdict on Solskjaer and United though. They are going to regret passing on Conte.

They're all being shoe-horned to facilitate Ronaldo, who isn't playing great himself. Look at the stats of Bruno Fernandes before Cristiano arrived and after.
