On loan Barry would be decent backup for our centre midfielders. Would rather he played there than Heitinga. He obviously did something right to get in Man City's team. Although, id prefer James Milner, out wide he is shockingly bad, in the middle he is actually good, was brilliant there for Aston Villa.

Uninspiring as he is, I wouldn't mind Barry coming in as long as it wasn't on a massive contract. He's all right at what he does.

Looks like martinez wants low risk signings with kone robles and alcaraz so far. Would be a shrewd move to loan barry. Bags of experience and would provide a platform for the more creative players. Probably a load of b s tho!

Out wide i dont rate Milner mate, simple as that. Its like putting Osman out wide, both players much better in their preferred CM spot.

I'd have Mirallas over him too. Which is great except unlike Barry, neither Kev or Ross are defensive midfielders.

We don't know how we're going to set up under martinez.

But a classic three man midfield involves a sitter,a runner and an attacker.

So Gibson, Fellaini, osman. Neville, Arteta, Cahill. Or Barry, Fellaini, barkley.

Asking barkley or fellaini to sit when gibson is out injured would be too nobble both of them.

You can still play the two of them with barry. It just means they're free to get forward.

Don't rate Barry amazingly highly. But he'd be a safe solid signing with experience. Although i highly doubt theres anything in it.

Barry is way to slow, Teams press him and he is very ineffective. He stank the place out at goodison last year
