Barry on loan with a view to buy for £4m would be a decent bit of business. Not being the best midfielder at City doesn't automatically make him a bad player.

*waits to be vaulted

Lescott is coming into his last year as well..
Top class competition for places..

You'd rather have a player who will be 33 before the season is out than one who has just turned 26 and is available cut-price?

If we have the option, I'd rather have diame.

Not sure we can dig up the money, mind.

Barry is the better player and a one year loan will be cheaper and might give time for junior or lundstrum to make it but diame is the long term option and that's always better.

You're right that is a bigger badge of honour than playing for the league champions. Well done.

Only the very best sat on wigan's bench under martinez.

He was a key man. In his 3 years at the club he made 37, 40 and 26 appearances respectively. I was really surprised that nobody bigger than West Ham picked him up when his contract ran out. He's a great tackler and has shown in glimpses that he can get forward and score important goals too.

Martinez rated him so highly he let hhim walk away on a free and was NEA about it

That last year, wigan won 11 games, diame started 3 of them.

He played when they were awful and was on the bench at the end of the season when they actually played well. It was dropping diame and rodalegga that kept them up.

I disagree. Barry was very good at Villa but I think he's got slower and slower and I'm not really sure how he has been getting picked for City and for England as long as he did. Perhaps it's on reputation? Diame has gone under the radar and was getting rave reviews for the Hammers before he picked up an injury. Arsenal have probably missed a trick by not signing him to replace Song.

I'm for Barry on loan for a year, not a bad player and could be quite helpful in the back. Any idea off hand around how much his wages are?

F*cking hell. Diame better than Barry? Of course someone who played 26/38 games for a Wigan side that nearly got relegated is better than someone who regularly played more for the league champions and has 53 England caps.
