The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

IF this happens, and it's a big if.

OUT: Fellaini

IN: McCarthy, Barry, pyar fast tricky attacking player.

Then I think we'd be better off.

The big issue for me, and for many others, is that if we lose Baines then it is impossible to replace him. Martinez will have to use the money to improve another area of the pitch and get a decent replacement for him in.

I'm sure he's got his targets lined up, some may go through as soon as Fellaini is gone. I just hope he has enough time to sort it all.

I hope that in light of this Baines and Fellaini situation the fans will appreciate that losing our two best players (and by a little bit) that Martinez is really up against it, and it's going to be tough for him to get the players he wants AND get them settled and playing in a system together. He's already got his work cut out trying to keep the doom and gloomers happy.

100000% this.

Is just all confirms to be that, regardless of how likeable he is or how genuine he seems, Martinez was the only "yes" man they interviewed who was willing to become Kenwright's new human shield and accept another period of sell to buy and absolutely no investment or future investment from the board.

Shocking really. His signings have completely pissed me off, and I don't think it's going to get any better.

Then I log onto the Everton site last night after get another terrible performance against Cardiff and read the manager saying we'll end the window stronger than when we went into it.

Well if we means having Kone and potentially McCarthy instead of Fellaini that just confirms his small club attitude and I hope he lasts no longer than a season with us. He'll put us back years.

I've definitely just lost brain cells as a result of reading that.

I gave up on this transfer window when we signed Kone for six million.

I had been hoping that we would break our record transfer fee on a class striker like Negredo or Soldado. Believe it or not, I can remember people stating that signing the likes of Negredo or Soldado would be too much of a risk as they had never played in England before, but all the excuses in the world were used to excuse Martinez' selection of average players in the transfer market, and then the player himself will be given a good 18 moths of crap football before people finally come to the conclusion that he has been a total waste of money.

Negredo or Soldado? Have you been living under a rock the last decade or do you believe Bill suddenly found a spare 50m behind his life sized poster of Moyes? If you have unrealistic expectations given our past transfer dealings then you only have yourself to blame for the crushing disappointment that follows.

How quickly some people forget the dross Moyes signed to offset the gems he did. Give Martinez some time eh? It's not like Football Manager out there.

Believe it or not, we need more than 11 players and 7 subs.
When players such as Vellios and especially Gueye are in the roster it'd probably make economic sense to get rid and instead use youngsters in an emergency, or not? There's 3m right there.

Why do we still have Heitinga, another minimum 3/4m player, and 60k a week on the books when we have once Alcaraz is fit, three CBs ahead of him plus Duffy and the emerging Stones?

You wont see them in a few weeks when we get this transfer window out of the way and Martinez gets this team converting a fraction of chances they create. They'll be back under their rocks.

Who did you want as manager butters?
Completely irrelevant as it was only going to be a David Moyes mk 2.

I'd have wanted somebody without a weird affection for Wigan Athletic and somebody not prepared to gift his ex team with literally our entire transfer budget on their ****e players.

Maybe you should tell RM to tick the box that offers the player to all interested clubs. Selling players must've as easy as that. Oh and then there's the buying too. Piece of cake this management business.

Kone aside he has brought in a defender on a free and a back up goalkeeper for around 1-2m to replace the departed Mucha

What else would you have liked him to do?

Is bringing in a half-crocked, sub standard defender, who is possibly 4th or 5th choice CB anything to write home about?

Is bringing in a far from proven substitute goalkeeper anything to write home about?

Then we have the six million pound acquisition of a 30 year old Kone, which is a really, really poor buy.

We can't score for love nor money but we are going to sell our leading scorer and our most creative player, and their mooted replacements are nowhere near as good and far from being inspiring.

It's been a terrible transfer window.

So there is no one specifically you think can do a better job?

Ok.

So what you're saying is nobody would be interested in taking Holland international and world cup finalist John Heitinga from us?

And no French club might fancy a cut price deal for Gueye?

Something is fundamentally wrong at our club if we cannot find takers for these players.

The thing is I was never, ever concerned about creating chances and scoring goals under Martinez, he had a small Wigan team playing some very nice football, albeit with a defence like a sieve.

The main concern everyone had about Martinez was his ability to organise a defence, and spot a defender. And oh look we've conceded 1 goal in 4 games, when was the last time we had 3 clean sheets in a row under Moyes? I'm actually quite impressed we've managed that.

We're playing with a slow build up at the moment but that will speed up in time. I think the addition of McCarthy will help up MASSIVELY in producing the football Martinez wants.

This, as someone pointed out on here a week or so ago, it's hard enough to sell average players on Football Manager, let alone real life FFS!

Heitinga is on £60k and has one year left on his deal. He's going nowhere.

Plus he's sh*te.

And Gueye is just sh*te.

WOW

Nobody wants Heitinga, If they did he would be gone

As for selling Vellios and Gueye, Have you thought that nobody wants them

THIS IS NOT FOOTBALL MANAGER YOU MASSIVE MENTAL WEAPON

Just got back from holiday. Followed game on Grand Old Team on way home yesterday and its seems very frustrating at the moment. We're not far away really and we could easily have 7 points if Felli's effort v WBA goes in, and if we'd got the pen and converted it yesterday. I know its 'if and buts', however, that's the way football is. My concern is our lack of firepower. Surely the manager can see this. In my opinion we must sign another striker in this window otherwise we'll struggle this season and I see us finishing around 8th or 9th. Alternatively why not try Mirallas down the middle. Our style at the moment means we don't need a 'hold up' centre forward as we're trying to pass our way through teams rather than go long.
