Surely Martinez realizes that Kone is a step backwards for the club, along with McGeady they aren't exactly improving the 1st XI

Sad thing is I think Kone is an improvement to our squad. That's not a glowing endorsement for Kone by the way, just the reality of how poor our forwards were last year.

One of my mates has texted me

Kone incoming...................

Will give him a call to investigate

If it was one of a couple of strikers, Iam not against it...if he were the only striker then a bit meh....

him and a bony / negredo i would be happy

Our forwards were poor but we could easily get a younger better striker than Kone. If we signed another striker to go with it I would be happy

Jelavic out, Kone in = improvement. 1 in 3 strike rate is pretty handy if he carries it over to us.

I hope the price is kept below £5M. He's 29 and therefore the likelihood of a sell on is pretty remote if he serves out a contract.

Is this the bob 'philosophy' buy loads of cheap ****e players? All it does is bump up your wages bill and lowers the quality of the squad.

Why didn't we challenge Arsenal for Yaya Sanogo, wouldn't have cost much and scored 9 in 12 last season in ligue 2

Imagine if the Honda talk was true? Seems unlikely though.

Kone seems more probable, and while not an overwhelmingly brilliant signing, for a small fee he would surely provide more goals than our strikers did last season. Would almost prefer to get him and splurge on a CB, CM and winger.

I want Jelavic to get a chance under Martinez. Do need another striker though. Hope it won't be Kone though. Bony would be the ideal option in my opinion.

do you think Bony would do well in the prem ? i seen the youtube clips ect but can you say what sort of player he is ?

thanks

If we act quickly we might have a chance with Honda, Milan are after him but they can only sign one more None-EU player, and they're currently deciding whether it'll be Honda or Tevez. If we dither, we'll miss out.

Saying that, we're probably not even in for him anyway, he costs money.

Physically build athlete, strong as an ox, very hard to disposses when he has his ball at his feet, good workrate, pacey and tremendous finisher. Think he'd fit in perfectly in the Premiership and at Everton.
