Reality is, the bottom club will get an extra £21m, the top PL club an extra £40m and we will get somewhere inbetween.

Why don't you use your simple maths to tell us what it will be spent on?

A prudent individual would use it to significantly reduce our debt. Bear in mind we currently run at a loss.

A pair of tightwads like Earl and Kenwright would also use it to reduce the debt, but for rather more personal reasons.

A moron would blow it all on more players, ignoring the fact that debts left unpaid grow over time.

The lion's share should and will go on paying down the debt.

For clarity, are you suggesting we are only around £6m in debt?

No I know where 40+ mill in debt. What I am saying is when people are asking come September where did the tv deal money go(because it hasn't gone on players or reducing debt) I think it will be safe to say its with the other 30million that just disappeared and I wanna know where it went.

For the third time, our debt is relatively small and easily maintained, and will become even easier maintained with increased revenue, so it makes little sense to make premature debt repayments at the expense of squad improvement.

Our debt is such that we ran at a £9m loss this year. This is not the definition of "easily maintained".

We need to cover that loss AND also reduce the outlay that caused the loss. If the outlay is caused by servicing debts we need to look at ways to pay down the debt, so that the cost of servicing it every year is reduced. And as a general rule we should always be looking for finance on more favourable terms than the current deal.

Why spend £9m a year of our new revenue servicing a debt? Why not instead pay off the debt and then, if funds are needed, borrow a new sum on better terms, reducing the £9m a year outlay?

I'll probably be fuming if we sign him, as it would ultimately be for about 5 or 6 million which would be unbelievable.

Martinez, if he is thinking of signing players like that, needs to quickly realise who is in charge of now, and it's not Wigan ****ing Athletic FC.

I see. So you have listed some options, including spending it on players, but there is no certainty about which one will happen.

So the "reality" is that we do not have to "sell Fellaini in order to significantly strenthen the team" as you claimed earlier. The reality is we have a choice.

Some people might make a different choice than you but that doesn't make them morons - just people with a different opinion.
