The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

I'm hoping we play a 4-3-3 under Martinez, because then I'd say keep Kev on the wing. Don't think he should play as a box-to-box right-mid like he has been this season though.

Ahhh Honda...

4-3-3, kev being given a free role to stay up for the fast counter attacks and a striker with ariel presence (hopefully someone like Soldado now that Bony is out of the question)

I'm not gonna lie, I was going off of Fifa 12 and 13 were he was a striker. I've just said in another reply to Mogsy though that I'd play him on the wing in a 4-3-3 setup, like he did at Olympiakos. He should be on the wing of a front 3, not a box-to-box wide midfielder.

Agreed on that. All Moyes doing. Now under Robueeueuerto I think we will see people revert to their normal playing habits i.e. Felli back to CM, Mirallas not having to track back as much ... etc.

If we close these 3 next monday im ok with that!
Those will not be Bobbys last signings.

"He also wants to bring in two or three players in the positions where we need them"

Alcatraz - Defence
McGeady - Winger
Kone - Striker

What a woeful trio, all aging, average players. If we really sign them I'd be so disappointed in Martinez, he's not at Wigan anymore!

The players he's bringing in to bolster the squad are effectively ones he can trust, which makes sense. He knows he can turn to Kone when we need a goal, or turn to Alcaraz when Distin/Jagielka are injured, and with squad players, the manager needs to trust them, needs to know the kind of job they can do, Martinez knows what Kone and Alcaraz can do. With McGeady, he obviously see's that he can do something with him, i dont know what, but if he can get similar results out of McGeady as what he did with Maloney, i wont be too upset.

Moyes singed Mirallas for £5m last summer.

I'd rather a player of his ability and financial upside then waste it on the likes of Kone.

Although I agree, these players are once in a moon finds. It was close to his release clause I seen so we got him cheap and we were lucky to get him over Arsenal. It was one of Moyes classic finds, but Moyes isn't here anymore and you can't get deals like that every transfer window.

I firmly believe he will bring other(s) too.

We need to replace Neville and Hitzelsperger. These played a total of 25 games between them last season. I'd expect Barkley and Lundstram to be able to cover that amount and we could also move Piennar inside and use Oviedo out wide if needed.

The problem wasn't how small the squad was imo but that we didn't have enough quality in all positions competing for places. Signing the players mentioned wouldn't change that.

I'm worried we'll buy these and then players such as Honda, Moses etc might come available and we won't be able to move for them as we'll be waiting for teams to make offers for Fellaini or Heitinga.

By all means get Alcaraz but then i'd rather we go big for someone like Moses who would make a much bigger difference to us (in terms of performance but also potential to improve and value to go up) and have the younger players like Barkley, Lundtsram, Kennedy, Stones, Duffy or Oviedo step up if needed

This nails it. The players will know Martinez play style and he can obviously count on them when he needs them. These are NOT first team players, they Re impact players. When/IF Felli goes we will see the big signings the likes of Soldado, Honda, Fer etc.

panic over McGeady if and when it happens. But i dont get the problem with Kone at all.

People want 23 year olds who score 30 a season. NEWS flash folks, we support everton and they cost £40-£50M so have a ****ing word with yourselves.

Kone for £5/6m would do me if he got 15 goals a season. Not sure what some people are expecting but for me, ill be happy with 2/3 new face at the start of pre season training. Anything other than the longest 2 months in the world and a quote akin to 'we'll go with what weve got' on the eve of the first prem game!

Alcaraz is a complete no brainer as has already been said.

Big signings wont happen unless we lose fellaini...and what would people rather do? Spend £20M on someone who may not work? Or keep fellaini?

What's happened to Löic Remy? Has he moved yet? He wouldn't be a bad shout, used to buy him all the time on Fifa 12. Him & Llorente got 50 goals each one year. Sign them both.

Hi snubbing of Newcastle for a team certain to be relegated means he is clearly motivated solely by money and would have no love for the club. Avoid like the plague and let the RS pay silly amounts of cash for him.

2 players got 20+ goals in the Premier League last season, Van Persie and Suarez, combined the pair cost £48-£50m. We all beg for a 20 goal a season striker, but that cost money which we dont have yet.
