"In August 2009, Everton signed Distin from Portsmouth for a fee of about £5 million on a three-year contract" Distin was 31 when we signed him for the same price touted for Kone. Not saying that Kone is the player i'd choose but some are complaining way too much about his age should look at Distin. He, for me is one of my favorite players in our squad, age is but a number.

Before people snap at me, i know center halfs last longer than strikers age wise, it is only an example of sometimes resale value is not the important part, its what you get out of what you paid for them. For Distin it was well worth 5 million.

It's not his age that bothers me, it's the quality.

Going all Football Manager here, and I know there's no chance in hell of this happening, but imagine just for fun...

OUT:
Heitinga - £2m
Fellaini - £23m
Plus about £8m we might have without selling anyone (seems reasonable, considering recent rumours and the new TV money etc)
Total: £33m

IN:
Alcaraz - free
Fer - £7m
Honda - £6m
Kone - £5m
Redmond - £3m
Moses - £12m
Total: £33m

Like I said, I know it's not going to happen, but my gosh...
--Mirallas-----Kone-----Moses--
-------Fer--Gibson--Honda-----
Baines---Distin---Jags---Coleman
------------Howard------------
With the likes of Osman, Pienaar, Barkley, Redmond, Jelavic, Vic, Alcaraz, Oviedo, Duffy, Stones and the rest of the kids on the bench and on the fringes...

Distin was proven in the Premier League. Kone has had one decent season and is certainly not worth £5million.

If someone could help me. People have mentioned that Martinez possibly wants to play 3 in the back, does that mean Baines CB Coleman or 3 CBs with Baines and Coleman on the bench? I'm a bit confused.

Coleman and Baines would play as wingbacks. Although I don't see Martinez playing 3 at the back, he did it at Wigan because it best suited the players he had. 4-5-1 is what suits our team and is what has worked, i don't see him making drastic changes in his first season.

I would imagine Alcaraz inbetween Distin and jagielka mate. Why would Coleman and Baines be in the middle? They'd be WBR and WBL.

The problem with Wigan is that their Wingbacks were terrible, centrebacks not too bad. If he really wanted to make 3-5-2 a success, we are probaly the most equipped team to do it.

If he plays 3 CB's then baines and Coleman will play as left and right wing backs mate

Going all football manager here I'm going to take over Everton and then create another user and take over Barcelona.

I'm going to buy Naismith for Barca for 80 million and sell Messi, Xavi et al to Everton at 500k a pop. Then I'm going to delete the other user as if nothing ever happened.

Everton fans will then complain we should be buying younger talent as Xavi is past his prime.
