The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Based on what we've seen for the last couple years at least, and the current personnel in the team.

We don't have the midfielders to play a 4-3-3; I can see how Kone would be viewed as a piece in the puzzle if we convert to a 4-3-3, but he isn't a midfielder. Equally McGeady, if our interest is real and not just twitter-based cobblers, is not a 4-3-3 midfielder either. I suppose he could be one of the wide men in the front 3, but it would start making us look rather top heavy in the squad.

We would have Jelavic, Anichebe, Vellios, Naismith, Pienaar, Mirallas all vying for a spot in the front 3 and none, bar MAYBE Pienaar, being capable of playing as one of the midfield three; Felli, Gibson, Barkley and Osman as the midfield? I'm not convinced that Gibbo or Ossie could make the switch, and there is the question mark over whether anyone is going to pinch Fellaini away.

Perhaps Martinez is going to make considerable changes, including formations, but if so I think we are going to need some midfielders to facilitate it.

Mcgeady would be a LW in the 4-3-3, like Mirallas would be a RW in it. so Midfielder isn't really teh question.

Also Vellios, Anichebe, Naismith and Vellios would be going for one spot. Vellios isn't even a first team player at the moment anyway, if any time. Pienaar and Mirallas would be LW / RW at this very moment in time.

The midfield would be lacking too; Fellaini in DM, Osman and Gibson? Not for me, Love Gibson but as a deep player who can pass it, Osman's getting past it IMO, was average as hell last season and we'd need some energy inserted into that midfield desperately.

This is why we need Fer or James McCarthy

So In a global market, Martinez is going to bring in 3 ex Wigan players (Kone, Alcaraz and Moses) and some are going to be ok with that? Fair enough.

Who's next McManaman? McCarthy?

Can someone let Bill know our scouts can be made redundant.

Its silly moaning about the rumours in the press mate.

Everton havent signed a player yet so it,s open season on all players till they DO SIGN UP.

Whoever the manager any player is fair game before they sign for the club.

Amazing how people think Mcgeady, Kone and Alcaraz are all signed already? Not a single bit of confirmation for any of them.

I dont get this, you'd think they were three lads from round the corner. Those players you mentioned were plucked out of the 'global market' in the first place and have done enough to persuade Martinez that he'd made the right decision. Maybe he should try again and come up with some players that might not make it in the vain hope that he unearths the next Neymar?

Hope not, but it looks like RM isn't getting a ton of cash to play with.

Hold onto Fellaini and Baines.
Sign Moses. A 4-2-3-1, with Fellaini-Gibson as the 2 and Pienaar-Mirallas-Moses as the 3.
Give Jelavic and Anichebe until January to prove they are up for it when they aren't running the channels.

1 CM and 1 CB for depth. Wouldn't love it, but wouldn't mind if those had to be loans/free agents.

If we lose Fellaini, drop at least 7-10 million on a like for like replacement and the rest on a striker.
